They offered and were turned down by two other candidates. I can't recall people getting to that point even with us we were "turned down" by the dude from KC -- but he did it by pulling out before getting to th interviews. You figure both rejectors had done 2 interviews so they must have gotten a strong whiff of something they really didn't like.

Worse than that - 4 guys refused a first interview. One refused a second interview. Dawson and the Pat's guy wanted to be able to can Philbin, Ross said no, so they moved on.
You really get the feel that Hickey wasn't the guy, he was the only guy who would take the job.

The evidence says credit goes to Schiano, but if Hickey had anything to do with the last two drafts, i wished he's stayed put.
