I personally believe that this team can be a playoff  contender with renewed health and improvement at one position...the QB.  Taking a QB in the first round is a huge gamble even as it can pay off.  However, Ihave not heard perter report or others talk about the possibility of getting a quality QB in free agency with Glennon as a quality backup as he continues to develop?  It seems obvious that Orlovsky isn't held in high regard.  Is there just no one on the market or ready to go, or have the Bucs just dismissed this notion entirely? This is not a diss on Glennon...he has potential.  I just don't want to put all of my eggs in that basket, others feel the same way, and I can't believe the Bucs aren't looking around. Given that our season is over in two weeks, I would loe the chance to hear what may be going on in that regard.

Would think any QB the Bucs might draft, would be as a backup to Glennon, not as a starter. Glennon already has half a season under his belt.As far as a FA, none come to mind.

revfish; I don't see it as you do and agree with Uncle Stan.  To take this further, I believe that our priority need is a fast WR and there are plenty out there in Rounds 1 and 2.  I could see us picking a QB in Round 3 by obtaining that pick via  trade down's in the 1st and/ or 2nd rounds.  Glennon is decent and will be a solid decent next season.  Even if we brought in the best available QB Free Agent or drafted a first rounder which I believe would be a big reach; we don't have the OL strength to help protect that QB.  I believe the answer this year is to trade out of the first round for a 2nd and 3rd round pick this year and a 2nd next year; then draft a WR, OL, QB understanding that all three are probably a year away from being ready to be full time starters.  By having an additional 2nd rounder next year will allow us to trade up 5-6 spots for Winston as he will be the top draft pick.  That's my dream.

Extremely unlikely. Here are most of the options.  Everyone else is either young and hasn't shown anything (Pat Devlin) or old and mediocre (Ryan Fitzpatrick):Jay Cutler - probably only clear upgrade over Glennon, unlikely to be FAJake Locker - interesting, but probably going back, injury-prone and inconsistentKirk Cousins [trade] - not better than Glennon, too many holes too waste a pick Sam Bradford - unlikely to be FA, mediocreMatt Cassell - unlikely to be FA, less than mediocreNick Foles [trade] - unlikely to be FA, not worth anything more round 4+ draft pick, unlikely to be successful outside of Kelly's systemMichael Vick - washed upChad Henne - unlikely to be FA, mediocreRyan Mallett - doesn't look very goodTerrelle Pryor - fun to watch, but unlikely to develop, benched for a UDFA

Glennon is regressing for a reason.  Stupid playcalling and craptastic OL.  He's Carring now.  A vet FA won't do much better. Our defense's resurgence is an illusion.  We wouldn't be playoff contenders with Manning at QB.  We need new coaching and overhaul of the OL.  I'm horribly disappointed in the OL, I expected great things from Bostad.

so if all those guys are mediocre or less what foes that make Glennon?

It is not Bostad's fault that Joseph has regressed so much (he should be in his prime) and that Nicks is out for who knows how long? It doesn't help that Penn has the annual "balloon up in December phenomena".

Incredibly unlikely, especially when we can draft a QB for cheaper (both in price and in pick).  People are talking about the Bridgewaters and Manziels and stuff, but this draft also happens to be incredibly deep.  Guys like McCarron and Fales and Mettenberger will be available after the first round.  If we're looking for a starter, we draft one in the first round.  If we're not looking for a definitive starter, and someone to compete with Glennon, then we draft them later in the draft.  Nobody in the league right now really makes sense as far as price goes.

Upside. With all the veterans, they're at their ceiling. It might be clear that Glennon in a couple years is no better than a Henne or a Cassell, but at this point there's a real possibility he's better.

I would take this whole list over Glennon, well maybe not Henne, but everyone on the list is better than Glennon.

The only bad part here is that it seems that we do not have a backup plan should Glennon not pan out.  I want him to succeed.  I just think we need a quality person in there now.  Do we really want to wait two to three years to see if Glennon is really the man?  With Williams and Jackson there, we have two good receivers already.  Offensive lineman...absolutely. To me that is a much better call than WR.

We have to get that backup plan.  I like getting Glennon develop. I think we see flashes of a good QB but he can't do it all the time. Maybe that leap from rookie to second year player makes that connection...but if it doesn't we need plan B.

Dal, I agree.  I see things I like and then I see the typical rookie QB play that I've seen in just about every rookie that I've seen over the 50 years I've been watching the NFL.  I've heard time and time again that it takes any QB 3 years to really learn and operate an offense efficiently.  But, until they fix the OLine, there is no QB that will be consistently effective as the starter.
