Garv; I like you are a fan too.  I just gave my opinion and it is obvious that I am no expert.  I do believe that Manziel will have a lower rating than probably 5-6 QB's as for NFL talent.  I agree with you that he is exciting and can do some amazing things as a small QB and got away with some of it in college like throwing lobs up in the air and hoping your WR jumps up higher than the DB to catch it.  If we drafted him at the No. 7 spot, I believe that would be a huge reach.

Goodness... I guess Drew Brees should just stop playing football because he is much smaller than Manziel and also with "average arm strength"..  that was why the Chargers felt like they had to get Rivers in SD....Ha you people are funny... The kid has talent you don't do what he did in that football conference with the lack of the supporting cast that he had.. just to be brushed aside... He has produced.. He isn't some underachiever with production questions.. Could you imagine if he actually got some talent around him.. I don't think the Bucs will get him but there have been certainly worse draft picks..And with Tedford probably coming on board, I would have no problem taking him on.. You have one of the most prominent and well respected QB developers on Planet Earth, I would like to see what he could with the natural talent and senses of Manziel

Manziel is a great college football player and he is exciting;  unfortunately, he's to small in frame and would be injured more than healthy in the NFL.  His arm strength is not that good either.  Did some of you forget what happened this past summer at Manning's QB Camp?  He's going in the early 2nd round and that is still a big risk for a team.

Even if you believe he SHOULD go in the early 2nd round, there's no way you actually believe he's going early 2nd round, right?  I'd be stunned if he fell out of the top 15.

TheAman; yes I believe that because that's where I believe where his value is.  That doesn't mean he will be drafted there, because there are some desperate teams that need a QB.  Hey, that's what a discussion is all about and why we Post and also create Topics.  I don't see any QB worth taking at our No.7 spot.  I hope we take a DL or OL, but I have said that the last two years and have been incorrect.  PewterReportMC, do you have any thoughts where Manziel ranking is among QB's that can play in the NFL?

Well, that's what I was asking, you said he'd be drafted there, not should be.  Two very different things.  Just making sure we were on the same page.

Kid has some amazing awareness and anticipation.  Wouldn't break my heart to see us grab him.

Many QB's have played at his size and played well. He's also stockier than he may seem to some, tough. His arm is certainly good enough and he is accurate whether in the pocket or on the run. Plus he sees everything on the field. IMO the kid is a special unique talent and I'd love to have him in Tampa. I believe he's still rated as a top three QB in the deraft and will most certainly be a first round pick. I'm just a fan, not a so called "expert" but many of THOSE guys are agreeing with me these days. Hey, it's a wish...hope for exciting winning football in Tampa again. I'll take that "risk" (ALL QB's drafted high are risks) any day.

He's 5'10", even Wilson is 5'11". Many is an overstatement. He's also not in anyway stocky, he's thin and short so he's not got the thick build of a Russel Wilson.  His pocket accuracy is not that good either. He's a rather mediocre pocket passer he only gets special when he is running a Chinese Fire Drill on the field.

He's a crazy intuitive talent and I love watching him play, but like Dal don't see it translating. Maybe I'm a bit higher on him than Dal, but huge risk, and that is before considering the off-field stuff.  That Favre quote forgets that the Falcons had to give up on the guy because of what he did Mon-Sat.

Its January... the kids going to be picked apart with a lot of his flaws brought to our attention. Most of his bad pub to this point has been about the off field choices. Id bet we start being made keenly aware of his game's warts between now and May. I think hes a first rounder when its all said and done, but people (like JBF) pining for him with a top 10 pick are way over valuing him imo

I think I agree Hate. The one thing I'll admit is I haven't watched Manziel closely enough to see how he does with his initial reads.  His improvisational skills are second to none, and excite me given what Russell Wilson is doing to the League with similar skills.  But if he can't read a defense then those skills won't go far enough to making him a great quarterback. You want to know the good thing though?  With the Lovie hiring, we at least now have a staff in which I feel confident will properly evaluate Manziel and/or any other prospect, and more importantly, when we do pull the trigger we will DEVELOP that kid into a NFL player in an NFL system.

And why not? I believe Johnny's talent is superior to Jeff's and it's about the desire to get better. I see nothing in him that says he doesn't want to be great. Now......Cutler is out of the picture so another QB will have to come from the draft...........

I think there is a fair amount that says he doesn't. He's a party boy. He could be Matt Leinert 2.0 who wants to be a football star not a football player. Yeah everyone talks about his work ethic but so did Leinert's coaches. Look at his track record. If you line up all the QB prospects for this year and ask which one is most likely doing blow in the offseason tell me that Manziel isn't #1 on your hit list for that potential - not saying he is but if you found out he was would you be at all shocked?

Did you see Manziel in front of his defense the other day?  Basically pleading with them firing them up, telling them to take the game, its "theirs" for the taking.  That shows me, at the very least, he's not Leinart 2.0.  The kid has a passion to win and be the best, which is what drives him both on the field and, unfortunately, off it.  He's a cock SOB, and a huge knucklehead, but when he's on the field he'll want to win at all costs.  I think Favre 2.0 might be a better comparison obviously without Favre's gifted QB traits in the strong arm, etc.I think he's got the attitude to be a successful NFL QB, my only question is whether he's got the ability to stand behind an NFL o-line and read an NFL defense and make the right decision.
