Jeff Garcia 2.0and i mean that in a good way.
And why not? I believe Johnny's talent is superior to Jeff's and it's about the desire to get better. I see nothing in him that says he doesn't want to be great. Now......Cutler is out of the picture so another QB will have to come from the draft...........
I think there is a fair amount that says he doesn't. He's a party boy. He could be Matt Leinert 2.0 who wants to be a football star not a football player. Yeah everyone talks about his work ethic but so did Leinert's coaches. Look at his track record. If you line up all the QB prospects for this year and ask which one is most likely doing blow in the offseason tell me that Manziel isn't #1 on your hit list for that potential - not saying he is but if you found out he was would you be at all shocked?
Did you see Manziel in front of his defense the other day? Basically pleading with them firing them up, telling them to take the game, its "theirs" for the taking. That shows me, at the very least, he's not Leinart 2.0. The kid has a passion to win and be the best, which is what drives him both on the field and, unfortunately, off it. He's a **CENSORED** SOB, and a huge knucklehead, but when he's on the field he'll want to win at all costs. I think Favre 2.0 might be a better comparison obviously without Favre's gifted QB traits in the strong arm, etc.I think he's got the attitude to be a successful NFL QB, my only question is whether he's got the ability to stand behind an NFL o-line and read an NFL defense and make the right decision.
I'm typing I'D take the risk in a heartbeat. the kid LOVES football and anyone can see that. As for the Party boy" image," I really don't take much stock in that. He was twenty years old after the 2012 season......20 with a Heisman! The kid is meeting all sorts of stars, seeing things he'd only dreamed of. I have to believe he's learned from it. Also, who says single QB's CAN'T have fun in the off-season? Joe Willie? LOL I just think the kid brings something on the field like no other I've seen in quite a while. Could I be wrong? Hell yes......... but like I've typed before, EVERY QB drafted high is a risk but you HAVE to take the chance to get the guy who could fill the stadium and win playoff games.Just my opinion and if others think there's a much better QB who will be there at 7 please elaborate. I'm not ready to go with Mike Glennon and a low round pick at the most important position on the team.

You see him partying somewhere? When? During the season, on Friday night with Raheem and Josh? Where? Bachelor's lll? Like I typed, I'm not too worried about a 20 year old having a good time in college. Worked for Broadway Joe, didn't it?
I would stay with Glennon as he is adequate. He did a lot better than all the other rookie QB's including two who were drafted in the 1st round. Here's what I am doing: trade down 15 spots for a 3rd rounder this year and a 2nd rounder next year. Now don't scream; trade Martin for a 3rd rounder this year and a 1st rounder next year. Now we have two 1st and two 2nd rounder's next year to try to get Winston next year.We have plenty of small sturdy RB's and Martin is our best trade bait we have.

broadway joe went to college in the 60's. A few things have changed since then. It's fine to not worry about his approach to life and football. That's what gms get paid the big bucks to do. Maybe he will pan out great...I just don't see the full commitment that the greats are known for.

Agree Garv... On the field the kid has the heart and courage rarely seen. It might end up getting him killed at the next level but I believe he could turn out to be another Tarkenton only better throwing and running the ball. Mobile QB's that can throw laser darts on the run drive NFL defenses nuts!

That's kind of an unfair question though right? Much different being a college QB partying and enjoying the nightlife than it is an NFL QB. I played ivy league football - IVY - and the amount of partying we did was insane. My brother played for a SEC school and it was triple the amount. Manziel became a star early because of the Heisman and there was an insane amount of attention paid to him. I'll be more concerned if he continues partying into the pros. One thing which you should take note of is the fact that this year, AFTER an offseason of alleged antics and partying, etc. the kid still came back and balled pretty well. That shows he's at least putting in the work to be right on the field which is all I care about. I could care less what he's doing off the field as long as he's ready to play at his best.

Seriously! After finding out about Freeman's exploits off the field are we really trying to compare the two in terms of competitive drive to achieve on the field? All the critics of JM need to get away from their ( numbers) and (agenda- Hey I am not really a fan of Manziel!) and look at what you are getting with the kid. He can throw any pass required! CHECKHe is accurate! Check He makes quick accurate decisions! Check.. While he can make plays with his feet running for first downs the greatest asset is extending plays that allow receivers to get open! CHECKHe will sell tons of tickets and just has (it) in terms of performance! CheckUnderstand the biggest point his critics claim is his size and those BIG BAD NFL players breaking him in half.. Not sure that is such a concern with the way QB's are protected today and Manziel certainly is very cognizant of avoiding the big hit.All this being said I doubt he will be available when the Bucs pick as I am sure there are those that recognize the rare attributes the kid has....
Manziel could not bounce around he did in college; he doesn't have the body to sustain those much harder hits he will get in the NFL. It's one thing to be mobile and quick; it's another thing to hang in the pocket and throw accurate bullets to your WR's. I see Manziel for a career similar to Tebow. There are other better QB's at No. 7 to go after if we feel the need to reach at No. 7. Right now I am in favor of a WR, OL, DE, TE, before we talk about QB. Glennon wil gain 10 pounds and get better because he is also very smart and he adapts quickly.

if the partying continues in the pros it's too late and it's a wasted 1st round pick.He did play well, and he's fun to watch. But I am assuming the prep work in the nfl is much different than college.

Not that you don't have a point and I am sure the NFL draft Guru's agree looking at Manziel's height and weight, and he could be downgraded so much due to him enjoying himself as a 19 year old and selling his autographs and end up just like Russell Wilson 3rd round and Drew Brees 2nd round.. How did those turn out? Of the three who is the most elusive and quickest? Hey I can't count the number of times I wanted to see the wiry little bugger get crushed! :D The kid has escape ability talents unseen since I have been watching football. Like trying to catch a water bug with your hands. He is nothing like Tebow who has always been nothing more than a average FB playing QB. Tebow is not an NFL passer JM is! As to Glennon? All that anyone needs to game plan for Glennon is get him out of the pocket so he can display his Ichabod Crane /Napoleon Dynamite running style and agility? as he bumbles and stumbles to the sideline where 9 times out of 10 something bad happens.Glennon is no better than a journeyman back up in the NFL. Personally, I would like the Bucs to get a someone like McCown /Chicago or Possibly Henne /Jax. I do agree that I would like to see Sammie Watkins with that 7th pick to play the slot.
I know, I know........ but tell me after watching Russell Wilson play that Johnny's style could not play in this league. Oh well, it seems there are a lot of damn good QB's coming out this year and as long as the Buccaneers upgrade the position I guess I'll be happy. But I LOVE QB's who can move and create plays like Wilson and Manziel obviously can.
manziels talents could certainly play in theleague. i wonder about his head and his drive, what is really important to him.
There is nothing i've seen from Manziel that reminds me of Leinart.
