Based on the countless number of times that I have watched the game, and even though the offensive line was not at its best, and that is putting it mildly McCown only further compounded the problems. If you have read any of my post since the conclusion of Friday nights game where the offenses execution was a mere exercise in futility. You know I have put most of the issues at the feet of the offensive line. But McCown, the chosen one deserves to burden some of the responsibility for the woeful performance as well.McCown held the football too long, did not quickly read through his progressions and locked on to his targets: Here are his actual time in the pocket from snap till hits versus the Jaguars - 2.06, 3.09, 2.63, 3.06, 2.87, 2.78 secs note that other than the 2.06 seconds - it shows that McCown held on to the football a tad too long and should have made better use of his checkdown options. On his very first pass attempt from the shotgun McCown takes the snap gives a quick glance towards Myers and quickly looks to Martin and never reads back to the center where Myers is wide open underneath, after getting a free release of the line from his inline position. That first pass attempt, was just the beginning, as it would become a reoccurring theme for McCown - on the interception, that was intended for Mike Evans he had Jackson underneath with a CB trailing him by about 2 yards, he was flashing right in front of McCown, as the Jagaurs defender is barreling down on him and Evans was running behind Jackson in the opposite direction, with his back to McCown with a safety already cheating and moving over the top of him with a CB trailing him. The play was there for McCown to make even in the face of pressure, but he hesitated, and had predetermined he was going to throw it to Evans. Poor read by McCown especially considering if he hits Jackson he has given the team the ability to pick up a first down, as it was third down and 7. So again, even though the offensive line did not give McCown and abundant amount of time in the pocket, McCown further exasperated the problems with his poor decisions, indecisiveness and his inability to read through his progressions and quickly make a throw.
