Hey guys, just wondering if there were any provisions in Mike Williams' contract that would end any guaranteed money (i.e. Eric Wright) for getting int trouble with the law and make him cuttable?Perhaps that's why the former regime was considering it?
also, did the agent ever get back to you on the fines? presume no.
Why on earth would we even consider cutting him? This is a very minor event. Williams still has some quality years left in him. His maturity might be in question, but not his football skills.
Jason, I have been meaning to ask, do you own that TARDIS or were you at a museum or convention?BTW, you picked the right doctor :)

Why not question his football skills? IIRC he was having cases of the dropsies and being out of position. If we could trade him and get Evans, it wouldn't make me mad.Not SURE his mind is 100% on football either.

One thought at a time - I am still wondering why he was signed to a larger and extended contract.... and his football skills are both outstanding and inconsistent. Not the stuff that should allow an experienced fan jump up and down - what are you seeing Horse. I see a kid who is a nice draft pick and then doesn't improve... will be interested in you thoughts
Nope, not taking the bait. I believe that Williams still can play. We'll know where he is before the draft.

Whatever - normally folks who bring things up are looking for a conversation. Will not bother you again.
While all the Williams stuff concerns me (scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst case I'd put it at maybe a 4-5), he's nowhere close to the cut/trade area IMO. The reality is:- He's a good and at times outstanding WR (he also can be inconsistent).- He's in a room with one very good to elite guy and 3 other guys who would have trouble making a lot of other NFL rosters.- We are missing 2 draft picks. - We don't have a ton of cap room (and only a trade would help). So I'd say at a minimum we should see what Lovie & Co. can squeeze out of him.

U.S., i thought you were dead-set against taking a WR early. Or is it that you just aren't a fan of Watkins?

That is the question... Does he envision himself as the next Jay Z, Rakim, Tupac, or Naz? JMO but he is delusional if that is the case..This is make or break year for him and it will start with the OTA's Is going to pull a Freeman? Or is going to be the "BEST HE CAN BE" for Lovie and the Bucs?
Cutting Williams at this point would be downright stupid.
dbucfan; I don't have anything else to say than what I said. right now there is zero reason to not play him. I am sure we will also bring in one to three more WR's that will make our team and replace some. I don't see Jackson or Williams as one of the replacements.
Most contracts have behavior type clauses, but a misdemeanor incident like this one would not qualify. A felony or league-mandated suspension (like E. Wright) and then you have a case. They cap ramifications are not good for the team to cut him at this point. Part of the thinking of the previous regime was if they cut him they felt some team would take a gamble and claim him off waivers, thus not hurting the Bucs salary cap wise in the future as they would assume the contract. I don't think he is going anywhere, and if the new front office decided that was what they wanted to do they would obviously explore trade options first.
