3SK made a thread on what our new offense will probably look like and what type of personnel would excel in it....and I just wanted to share with PR that THIS IS WHAT I COME HERE FOR!!! I buy the NFL.com package for roughly $200/season...On Monday (maybe Tuesday) the coaches film from the game is available to watch...The breakdowns you could do based on reviewing that film would be UNBELIEVABLE....How good was WR at getting open? How could was a DB at covering? How many opportunities did the QB miss? How many did he create?...and so forth...Unless the ball goes that way we don't know what else is going on, we miss so much! Stick to football, make it your niche, have your opinions, but leave them to football, based on FACTS...make this the ONLY place I can find that kind of information on my favorite team.I know you guys are working hard to make this a good place to come to get the "inside" info, but I believe you've lost your way a little this season...Stick to just football...Stick to analysis like 3SK just did on the red board...I think EVERYBODY wins if you do.Signed a long time loyal subscriber.
Pleasantly disagree. I find there are others who do a better job of breaking down film, I skim their post-game articles on things like unit grades and performance. It's easy for anyone to watch the coaches film and break it down - I can even do that myself. What I can't do is talk to my "contacts" at 1 Buc and find out what actually went on with Freeman, or how much power Lovie Smith will have.If you're looking for a breakdown, NFLosophy does a good job and there are lots of others out there.

You're right, ANYTHING that effects the football team should be reported...The scale has been tilted so far to the one side that I'm just sick of it, but you're right. However, it is easy to break down film, but who has the time? And yes you can find stats on EVERYTHING...I'm talking about detailed analysis from reporters who HAVE the inside contacts AND some football knowledge to go with it....Triple threat...I think the combination is unique and would sell well to fans.
@ Balls Out Respectfully disagree, I'am to old and busy to break down film. I have been a reader for many yearsand think PR does a great job. Looking forward to another year with PR. Thanks PR staffHappy New Year to all and I look forward to your posts and opinons

Balls Out - I just look at it as specialization. I don't mind PR giving out unit grades and such after a game, but I don't put a lot more stock into it than what I watch. The reason is that SR/MC/others are journalists. I believe that there's a big difference between being a game film analyst (think Mike Mayock) and a journalist (think Adam Schefter). The skill set is totally different - one requires you to have sources and "dig" things up, the other requires you to have an in depth understanding of schemes, mechanics, etc. (and not just from one team, but many or else your analysis lacks perspective). If PR had a guy more dedicated to breaking down film, who was a real X & Os guy, I'd really like that (kind of like Charlie Campbell was a draft guy). Maybe they could hire someone part time. But I don't want to see SR or MC take on that role because, while they have an excellent football IQ, it's outside of their wheelhouse (and requires hours of film study every week). And I agree - I certainly don't have time to break down film (although I wish I did). Instead, I read guys like Stephen White, Bucs Nation, NFLhilsophy, Grantland, etc. who do film analysis and can often been found analysing Bucs footage. There are other sites/people as well, and I find twitter very useful as during games you get "mini film breakdowns".
^^ can't please everyone ^^
Everybody has a bias. Look for yourself. Or look at the guys who do it on the reg. Ask Uncle Stan how hard it is to get a Fab 5 out of SR on the reg and ask yourself if you want to add to that workload :P

And I would say people who have actually been doing that for a living for a long time will tell you that is totally untrue. Easy if you really have no idea wth you are looking at or what to look for...

Hey, I've had an SR's Fab 5 every week last year with the exception of maybe 3-4 weeks for vacation. :D

Well, we do specialize in inside information and draft coverage. I think today's SR's Fab 5 is a good example of the inside scoop we can come by. No one has accurately forecasted as many players being drafted by the Bucs as Pewter Report over the years. As for the X's and O's breakdowns, we've done those from time to time over the years and may do some more in the future. I appreciate the feedback.

I think even Uncle Stan would have to concede that SR. You have been a FAB machine.
SR/MC have you guys heard from your media counterparts in Chicago on how Lovie and his staff were with providing insider info?

Can't be worse than under Schiano, can they?

Lovie can't be too tight-lipped. Hell, we knew who his coaching staff was going be before the guy was even hired.
