With the team jettisoning both Dominik and Schiano one would hope that the Glazer emplace a new GM before conducting their coaching search to ensure the new GM has ample input and is on board, because as it stands this will be the teams third head coaching hire in six seasons and just proliferates the instability and lack of continuity from the top of the organization all the way down to the very bottom of this franchise. Here is a list of the 14 potential GM candidates that should garner the most interest by the Glazer's. I will not boast about the candidates resumes, but all are viable options.Jason LichtTag RibaryEric DeCosta Omar KhanChris BallardScott PioliNick CaserioBrian GutekunstLes SneadMatt RussellMarc RossTom GambleScot McCloughanWill Lewis

Smith is the in between - personality wise of Morris and Schiano so it could be a very real possibility...His name alone would garner the chance to hire respectable assistant coaches and he runs a 4-3 defense and in his latter years as HC of the Bears it was a more aggressive version so the team would only need to continue to add defensive pieces. The key falls on the offensive side of the football and what the team is going to do under center. Smith would have to bring in some legit offensive minds as its has been his down fall. The three biggest hires for Smith would be OC, QB Coach and OL Coach. I am hoping the team retains Earnest Byner as RB Coach. As for Marc Ross, he would be a solid option as GM.
Eric DeCosta has already turned down multiple jobs, and is the GM-in-waiting in Baltimore right? Obviously he'd be awesome if we could get him.
Oh My God. When i read the name Scott Pioli i immediately vomitted. His stint as Chiefs GM was an absolute train wreck. Chiefs fans actually started to wear black to games completely in protest at Pioli.Drafting Jonathan Baldwin in the first round was horrible. Drafting Tyson Jackson in the first round (at 3rd overall including a $57 million contract) was even worse. Giving Matt Cassell $63 million (and giving up a 2nd round pick for him) was completely insane and utterly unforgivable. If we were to appoint Scott Pioli as GM then i would instantly consume 15 bottles of Tylenol washed down with 2 litres of Tequila

I agree on Ross. I think he would be an excellent addition and would immediately garner the team a great deal of respect, especially if paired with Lovie Smith. Rumor has it that Smith is looking at Jeff Tedford for OC and Tony Sparano for OL coach. Along with Leslie Frazier for DC, if he can get him.

Not sold on Tedford as an NFL offensive coordinator - but at least on the surface Smith seems to have learned from his past mistakes and is at least looking to bring in what many pundits feel is a bright offensive mind who has developed plenty of good college quarterbacks, but not many succeed in the NFL.
Here are several links to video's of Marc Ross for those interested in gauging him by his talks with media members...He interviewed last season for the Bears, Colts and Panthers GM vacancies... http://www.giants.com/media-vault/videos/Draft-War-Room-Tour/961CC52B-8649-4EE3-80F3-4437C22D7C3E http://www.giants.com/media-vault/videos/Dir-of-Scouting-Marc-Ross-on-Draft-Picks/46C97FEB-D77D-4F91-9F59-1DDF76088AD7 http://www.giants.com/media-vault/videos/Dir-of-Scouting-Marc-Ross-on-Draft-Picks/6B1F32E5-DE30-43E8-9C80-F9DE69F22E18 http://www.giants.com/media-vault/videos/Marc-Ross-joins-Draft-Night-Live/291A411A-833C-4C96-9666-68171E95F764 http://www.giants.com/media-vault/videos/Director-of-College-Scouting-Marc-Ross/A4C47F0E-476F-40E9-A9BA-E2DE396190F1 http://www.giants.com/media-vault/videos/Road-to-the-Draft-Bob-Papa-does-Drills/1D68D669-DAAA-47A8-8E1C-D40D97C43AF8

I'm hopeful on Tedford just because he isn't a typical ground n' pound guy but at the same time while he is known as QB guru he had a 1000 yard rusher each year but one he was at CAL and put 5 RB's into the pros along with 8 QB's.

Dal (or anyone else) how would you describe the Tedford offense? Spread? Pro Set?
Vin - I think for the most part many associate Tedford's offense as being a "complex and sophisticated" system that puts great responsibility on the quarterback. Former players have said it takes considerable time to grasp its intricacies. Which means it will most likely take a very smart and high football IQ type of QB to operate it. The good think is that Glennon from all accounts is a high football IQ QB.Here is an excerpt from Tedford on coaching his QB's...
"So much of the game is the mental part, being prepared scheme-wise, and understanding the game, and understanding the concepts, so they understand on every play where to throw the football," Tedford says. "It's not memorizing; you find a lot of times that kids will memorize, but they have to understand the whole concept, and the whole field. There's a purpose for everything we do with every position, and they need to understand what that purpose is."As he teaches understanding of the playbook, Tedford begins by drawing diagrams with pencil and paper. From that, he'll move on to the checkers. Across a table from his quarterback, Tedford arranges 11 checkers in a defensive formation, against the quarterback's offense and asks the quarterback to show what's happening - what's the formation, what's the pre-snap read, what's the play call, what are the possibilities out of the formation, what are the protections, what are the routes? "I'll make them say the snap count, the whole thing, and what happened," Tedford says.

wow, thanks Yucc
No problem...and to directly answer your question its a pro-style, balanced and multiple attack scheme that is diverse, and Tedford delivers clever game plans and when it is executed properly its methodical. His wording of the actual play call is very wordy containing a bunch of verbiage reminiscent of when Gruden was here.
"If you ever listen to an inside the NFL huddle, where you hear the QB spout off a bunch of words that sound like gibberish, a Cal play call is just as long and perplexing. If there is one thing to complement about Coach Tedford's offense, it's that the pro-style offense is identical all the way to the play calling."
My impression has been that Tedford is more of a West Coast Offense type of guy
