Dom was fired because he couldn't  build a winner in 5 years period. Schiano wanted Glennon, but when he got his way we still looked terrible on offense. Schiano also didn't show an opened mind when he stated Glennon was his man going forward after the season. Both men were fired because of their losing records period. There is no story here.

Mark, from my perspective, I think you might be missing the point.  When SR went off about the need to fire Schiano, why didn't he aim at the man who hired him, too, with the same amount of criticism?

Heard some things about Mark... Watch any FSU games lately? That's Mark running down the sidelines. Don't believe me, watch some of their games. Yeah, he's a ball boy... He doesn't have no time for us anymore, because he's following Winston around like a puppy. You want to know what I heard? Scott don't care anymore... Yeah, he's been making episodes of Dexter on Showtime. Yeah... He's too busy writing for them, and not us. Check the credits yourself if you dont believe me. I'm going to go watch JFK, good movie.Heard some things about JoeBucsFan too, I got a guy who says theres more than two people. He said now there's a third person in the mix. Yeah, my friend said from his perspective it was a third person.

I say move on; Freeman's gone, Dom's gone and Schiano's gone; all for very good reasons. Anybody standing here defending Schiano with a 11-21 record with all that talent needs to have their blood pressure checked. Any fool could see that he wasn't going to make the Bucs into a winner with Glennon or Freeman. I find it interesting that all this stuff comes out after the fact trying to make Schiano look good. As far as I am concerned good ridden; Schiano has proven to be a liar on several accounts but the reason why he is out of here is his record........period. He is not a NFL coach; can we just move on please!!!!!!!!And PR; keep up the good work!!!!! Thanks Mark and Scott...................

PR, here's an unsolicited suggestion, act more professional.  MR, you're getting pulled down into the weeds and defending SR.  3rd String Kicker, you're now spamming your own board.  SR, don't let personal relationships effect your reporting.  Set a standard and then live into it.  Ugghh.

You are correct sir, I should not post my opinion in three separate posts in the thread, I've combined them into one so that it is easier on the eyes.

Sarcasm noted.  Just trying to help.  PR has had a rough go lately.

Wait, Now Dom used us to smear Schiano? Does everything have to be some huge Oliver Stone conspiracy? Wow. I am finally at a loss for words.

Really?PR carrying water for the editor's roomie is an "Oliver Stone Conspiracy"? Sorry Mark, but Scott's bias is clear and has been for a long time.  It just never really became a conflict until Schiano.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but Dominik never once, and I repeat never once, had a single negative thing to say about Schiano. And SR may get mad at me telling you this, but Dominik's refusal to confirm the sources we had about Schiano were part of what made us rethink things. He could have EASILY distanced himself from Schiano at any point this season but never once did. And that is a fact whether anyone wants to believe it. A power struggle? Hardly. Of course Dominik wanted Freeman to succeed more than Schiano did perhaps, but that is because he had more invested in Freeman's success. But if there was a power struggle, why would Freeman be benched Week 3? This make zero sense, even in a conspirator's world. And I am not trying to knock anyone's reporting, but so many people who have never set foot inside One Buc Place try to gain traction with off the wall theories. That is mind-boggling. And people just accept it as truth because they WANT to believe it.SR and myself are the first to admit we haven't been 100 percent correct on everything. But I can assure you this, it wasn't because we decided to throw something against the wall hoping it sticks. EVERYBODY involved could have handled things differently, but in the end I don't think anything would have changed the final verdict.Again Doc, you and every reader here has the right to believe anything they want, and we do not delete comments or users who disagree. There were and still are plenty of nasty comments about SR that were truly unfair, but SR always says leave them, they have a right to voice their opinion, even if we know they are 100% inaccurate. His skin is most certainly thicker than mine. But maybe that comes with 19 years on the job.Lastly, hope everyone has a great New Year and thanks for taking the time to discuss these things in a civilized manner.

I agree with everything Mark Cook said - 100%.I can assure you that Mark Dominik in no way shape or form threw Greg Schiano under the bus, nor did he smear him behind the scenes at all. The only thing he and Schiano didn't see eye-to-eye on was starting Freeman in 2013. The Glazers and Dominik wanted to start Freeman, but Schiano didn't. Schiano got on board with the decision, though, and tried to make it work. However, Dominik came around to Schiano wanting to bench him after Week 3 and was on board with that decision after seeing Freeman's downward spiral on display. To think that I was a propaganda tool for Dominik is laughable. If you could see all of the critical e-mails and texts Dominik has sent me over things I've written you would think definitely otherwise. We also had some heated discussions at times. It comes with the territory. We did have a good working relationship for most of the time, though. I think Dominik did more good things than bad here, especially with salary cap management and player acquisition, especially over the last two years. The cupboard is not bare in Tampa Bay. He, like Schiano, just didn't win enough games.

Because at the time I thought most of the Bucs' problems were with Schiano - not Dominik. It's that simple. I can't say I disagree with the Glazers' decision to fire him, though.

What I perceived this year was bias comments from many parties. It was very difficult to read these boards this year. Being neutral and analysing facts allude many reputable posters and reporters. I concidered not reading, but I love my Bucs.

SR - How much of the player acquisition was on Dominik and how much of it was Schiano? The reason I ask the question is because by in-large Dominik's track record of player acquisition before Schinao arrived was spotty if not down right disconcerting. There is no doubt the way he managed the salary cap and structured contracts was unquestionably his best asset as the GM. However during his first three years of player acquisitions there was a lot left to be desired. There is not one player still on this team from his first draft and after this off-season there might only be four left in total from his three drafts drafts. That is four out of 23 picks {McCoy, Williams, Clayborn and Foster)...Lets not forget about the free agent contracts or resignings either.

Some of the Poster's are really funny. It's the conspiracy theorey and it goes all the way to the White house?  Yep, President Obama is friends with Josh Freeman and he started it all.  Seriously; Scott and Mark have both been calling for Schiano's head after most of us realized that Schiano schemes weren't working and there were very little adjustments as other teams made their adjustments against us.  Then many of us pulled a little back when we won four games, but once we started getting the tar knocked out of us we gave up.  My guess right now is that the Glazers woke up and realized that Box, Club seating was going to take a huge hit from many loyal Buc Fans if Schiano stayed.  Like I have said many times; the Glazers need to reduce the ticket prices and many fans will come back; and I don't care if we are already in the bottom tier of ticket.  People under 40, could care less about purchasing football tickets anywhere because there is little value in them.  College and the NFL are in trouble and once these contracts end; there will be no increases.  Just my opinion.

Question? Was it possible that Butch Davis was hired to evaluate Schiano and Dominik?

I know many fans have wondered out loud about a power struggle between Schiano and Dominik and a quarterback who shall remain nameless...well now it seems Max Luckan of 98.7 The Fan who also covers the Bucs for CBS has let the cat out of the bag and has stated that Schiano was forced to start the nameless one in 2013 amidst a power struggle that ultimately cost he and Dominik their jobs.

Bucs ownership and GM Mark Dominik made the decision to start Josh Freeman. Was not Schiano’s call.

https://twitter.com/MaxLuckan/status/417979472617672704 I find it interesting that there has been a well publicized friendship between SR and Dominik and shortly after the benching and subsequent deactivation of the nameless one that scathing articles were written calling for Schiano to be fired yet over the entirety of Dominik's tenure not once was he ever taken to the mat for his poor performance over drafting, free agency moves or the fact he had a part in hiring both Morris and Schiano.Surely seems like maybe some of the main issues emanated from the top...lets not forget the drafting and free agent acquisitions only got better once Schiano arrived and had some influence.Of course that's my opinion....and I could be reading in to things a bit much...but I find it hard to believe that during the whole debacle this season Dominik was never brought up as part of the problem. If a reporter claims objectivity and no basis then why not take Dominik to the task of answering for his part in the train wreck over the past five seasons? For me I think credibility has been lost...

I don't know about the SR/Dom angle and credibility... though it made sense when this was all going down back in the 2nd quarter of the season... But the premise of a power struggle or at least serious disagreement over the franchise QB is what I've been guessing is a large reason for Dom's departure - totally makes sense. My sense is Dom was pulling for Freeman, even when all the stunts were being pulled and his negative behavior (whatever it is) was known, and Schiano knew he couldn't keep selling Freeman to his players. The Glazers were probably above the fray and didn't know the sordid details; when it blew up in the way it did, causing embarrassment on a biblical scale, it was too much. Then when Freeman went to Minny and was pulling the same stunts, it became clear Freeman's people were leaking to the media, etc, confidence in Dom - despite some real personnel successes recently - was eroded to the point of no return. Then he was held to account for it and the other issues.

He probably was the eyes and ears for the Glazers. Interesting theory.
