After a three-week search the Buccaneers have finally named decided on their new general manager, tabbing Arizona's Vice President of Player Personnel Jason Licht to fill the role with the organization, according to FOX Sports Insider Jay Glazer. Licht had been a part of four Super Bowl teams during his 19-year NFL career. https://www.pewterreport.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=9599:&Itemid=15
Very impressive resume. Want to know asap whether or not our current scouting dept is staying or being replaced. Lots to do before FA and the draft. But this is, IMO, a very good hire and worth the wait.
No one is going anywhere until after the draft Garv most likely. Too much time and scouting invested

This should be fairly obvious. I'm surprised people still ask this question.
Agree with Garv. Looks like a solid hire.
Regarding the "balance of power": http://thepewterplank.com/2014/01/21/much-power-will-new-general-manager-jason-licht-tampa-bay-buccaneers/

That makes sense. I like the way the Bucs have drafted of late and another strong draft SHOULD keep those guys on our side. Obviously Licht is a bright guy and it seems he'll be a GM in more than name only, with full GM powers as it. IMO, should be.
Want us to keep stokes.
Licht is a candidate I had initially put on my short list of 13 potential GM prospects after Dominik was fired. He has helped build some solid teams over the years in new England, Philadelphia and Arizona. His resume speaks for itself. Solid hire. Good to see that the Glazers are stocking the front office with well respected and capable people.
Sounds like he's been around a lot of serious success (4SBs). I'm totally stymied by the structure of this off season hiring strategy. Right/strong staff at the right time. My blood pressure problems may be half way solved. I can't wait to see what players get to play this season. Wow!! Go Bucs!

I like that he will bring a fresh set of eyes....with a different perspecitive....to the draft room.
Well and more than just eyes different methodology potentially. The Pats for example don't have a draft board of 300+ guys for example. They usually only have a draft board of about 100 players that they consider to be draftable by the team based on how they fit. Let's them focus more than some places. Not saying he will do this but just having seen how it is done in different areas he can shake up more than just how prospects are viewed.

I don't think stymied means what you think it does.

System-specific drafting. Falcons use it as well, as do the Jags under Caldwell. Here's an article that touches on it with the Pats: http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nfl/columns/story?columnist=reiss_mike&id=6076915

I like that plan.....concentrate on what you see as the best for you and that may give you a chance to make deals with teams that want to get a player you aren't interested in.
