The Glazers have apparently moved quickly in finding Greg Schiano's replacement, as a report Wednesday night by FOX Sports Jay Glazer says Love Smith and the Buccaneers are finalizing a contract to make him the next head coach of the Buccaneers. https://www.pewterreport.com/index.php?option=com_k2&Itemid=20&view=item&layout=item&id=9541
MC, any knowledge about the Chris Ballard connections that several national people are making?
No not really, other than their apparent friendship. Well will dig into that asap.
Credibility returns to the organization... I imagine there are lots of people interested in working with him. Ballard, with his reputation and background with Lovie, would have to be considered a possibility. Same with Angelo. I really hope if McKay is returning, it's not as GM.
I heard Leslie Frazier at DC?... Damn.
Buccaneers hired Lovie Smith as head coach.Credit Adam Schefter for first tabbing Smith as the heavy favorite in Tampa, and Jay Glazer for breaking news of the actual hire. Previous reports have indicated Smith will be accompanied by Jeff Tedford to coordinate the Bucs' offense, and Leslie Frazier to run the defense. Turning 56 in May, Smith spent 2013 out of football after being fired by the Bears, where he was head coach for nine years and earned an 81-63 record with one Super Bowl appearance. Smith is set up for success with the Buccaneers, who have far more talent than their 4-12 2013 record suggests. The Bucs are hiring Smith before a general manager, which suggests Lovie will have plenty of personnel power. We'd view this as a fairly high-risk, boom-or-bust hire despite Smith's successful track record. http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/nfl/football
Great news! Can't wait to hear more about new Dc and OC. This brings stability back to the Bucs and he's a tough coach and yet a player's coach. I think the players will LOVE LOVIE! As much as Thurston Howell!Now.....think Tedford would like Johnny Football behind center? LOLHappy Happy New Year!
Any word of Sparano as the OL coach?
Any word of Sparano as the OL coach?
That to me is one of the most vital parts of the new staff. Not sure Bostad got all he could out of the players. But if he did, a coach like Sparano will quickly figure out what they need.
Great news

I hope Bostad didn't for we have a lot of trouble. :)The cocnern with Sparano is that he's always been in those Parcells power run schemes whereas if I recall Tedord's offense they use a lighter more agile line because of the screens they run.

This is incorrect... Rod Marinelli is the proposed DC
Mark, has the hire been confirmed yet?If not I think we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves.
