"Heck, Schiano even got rid of starting quarterback Josh Freeman, who turned his partying up a notch to a point where it negatively affected his game, three games into his contract year in 2013."I'm thinking you just re-opened the can of worms Scott.

"Heck, Schiano even got rid of starting quarterback Josh Freeman, who turned his partying up a notch to a point where it negatively affected his game"Have you ever reported this before?  Jeez, SR, you can't just throw a one-liner in like that.  Are you reporting that Freeman's three game performances this year were negatively impacted due to his partying?  Because while I've read a lot of that from board posters, I surely haven't read anything like that from PR.

Read between the lines. SR already said he's sworn to secrecy. He dropped a little nugget of info. Freeturd turned his partying up a notch. Seems to me that would mean from booze to substances. Unless he went from getting drunk to getting chocolate wasted drunk. I still think the team knew about it, and thats why the info can't come out. Maybe even playing under the influence with the teams knowledge. But thats just a guess. I'd be surprised if SR elaborates any further until someone else finally breaks the story. But to me, turning his partying up a notch would suggest Free was on drugs.

why? he just answered the question that people have been asking, right? Funny thing will be watching how people respond to that line.  Voyeurism is a powerful thing :-)

Because especially after last weeks back and forth, people are going to want details.Plus you can't claim to being sworn to secrecy one second and then drop a hand grenade like that the next.

Yeah, I don't think you get to play both sides of the street.  If you're going to report on something, then report it.  If you're not, then drop the references.  There's been a ton of innuendo about Freeman, and while I'm moving over to the couldn't care less side of the spectrum now that he's a former Buccaneer, this has the potential of becoming one of those stories that 5 years down the line everyone accepts as gospel, despite a lack of any explicit reporting.  This line from SR reports the partying as a fact, and I believe that's the first time PR has taken an explicit stance on it.

I don't know, one man's voyeurism is another man's "insider" board.

well, then I would go back to my unanswered question in the other thread:  other than pure voyeurism, why do the details matter? The story that SR was criticized for by "Insiders" was reporting that the Schiano/Freeman breakup was due to "Schiano the bad guy" when it appears to have been "Freeman the problem child."  SR corrected that and then it became "tell us what Free's problem is?"  The request that SR "tell us what the problem is" has nothing to do with the Schiano/Freeman breakup story . . it has to do with voyeurism. It continues. There were "Insiders" speculating with lists about what Freemans problem was/were . . . .  SR just mentioned one on the list . . . .  and yet what is the early response?  "Oooh . .  you have to tell us more!!"Voyeurism . . .  nothing moreThe reason that is interesting is because some of the "voyeurs" are the same who decried PR's prior reporting as like a tabloid . . .  .lol . . . . . crocodile tears, it seems

Not sure I agree Vin.Schiano took a great degree of flack for not playing Freeman in the pre-season and the eventual benching. He and Glennon have taken a great deal of flack for how our season tanked. The QB dilemna is probably the #1 reason why our season went south rapidly. Not saying it was the only reason, but a major contributor. As a result I think it is reasonable for fans to want to understand why.

SR just said why, right?but, I was actually speaking more to the now seemingly false criticism that was shoveled onto PR.  There were a number who cried for details under the guise that SR was somehow obligated to balance the scales ..  I think that was actually voyeurism because what difference could the details make?

Again, I have much less interest in the story now that Freeman's play doesn't affect my team.  My point is only that I believe PR had not reported that Freeman was partying during the season until just now - in a one-sentence throwaway.  This, to me, raises a number of questions: if he was partying during the season, why not report it then? Alternatively, now that he's gone, why report it at all?  but most important, I guess, is that the official position of PR - that Freeman was, in fact, partying so hard that it affected his play?  Because I have not seen that reported by PR before.

well PR can speak for itself, but I doubt reporters have an "official position" on anything. On the rest, best guess would be proof/confidence in the info.  Another outlet has since reported (Walter Football) and Free has gone to another NFL organization and failed and wasn't there a report of Viking players criticizing Free? but none of that explains what value the details hold

Really good article and I for one am glad to hear things, good things about Coach Schiano, that I believe have been overlooked by many fans. He DID change the culture here. He DID bring in football players with high character and keep those that had it. He DID get rid of a lot of trouble. I think that he is a good man.I personally believe that he was treated very badly by both sports radio stations in  town, that is was personal. Some of those jackwagons were rooting for the team to lose simply to get him fired. That bothered me then and still does. That typed, the time was right to make the change to Lovie Smith. The record dictated it had to be done. I understand that and support the change. Lovie is in a very good situation, as this article makes clear. As I myself see it as well.As for Josh Freeman? He fooled me and many others. He's gone and I'm glad he's gone. SO over hearing about what may or may not be his problem. Bottom line, he's not OUR problem, the Buccaneer's problem anymore. With Love and what I believe is an excellent coaching staff put together in a timely manner I very much look forward to next season.Good job on the Fab 5! Enjoyed it very much.
