Quarterbacks:Statistically speaking, Jameis Winston had a very strong rookie season. He finished 2015 with 4,042 yards (second-highest total in franchise history and a team rookie record), 22 passing touchdowns (a team rookie record and 4th highest in franchise history), and 15 interceptions. Winston set a team rookie record with five touchdown passes against the Philadelphia Eagles, in Lincoln Financial Field on 22 November 2015. Winston also set franchise marks for rookie passing attempts (535) and completions (312), completing 58.3 percent of his passes (second-best completion rate for rookies in team history with 200 attempts or more). Winston six wins are a team rookie record. Winston was the team’s first ever rookie quarterback selected to a Pro Bowl, as an alternate. His 252.6 yards passing per game ranks first amongst rookie signal callers and second in franchise history. Winston has excellent size, football intelligence, arm talent, mental toughness and exudes comfort in chaos. With the offensive emphasis on a down-field, vertical attack, with its roots entwined with the Air Coryell system. Winston has the perfect temperament for playing the position. The intense media spotlight does not seem to faze him. He is very smart and hard-working. Winston excels in the mental aspects of the game. He reads opposing defenses extremely well. The coaching staff trusts him to make complicated pre / post-snap reads for both the running and passing games. On the negative side, Winston showed he is still guilty of making the ill-advised, head-scratching throw when the smarter decision would be to throw the football away or take the sack. His gun-slinger mentality also causes him to make some risky throws in tight windows. A true pocket passer, Winston showed he can be a threat to harm a defense with his feet. In Winston’s albeit short exciting lone season in the NFL, he demonstrated a clutchness that the great one’s all seem to exhibit.
