Ryan are you local? If so come hang with us at Champps tomorrow. You and Unc can break bread and have a beer and get to know each other!
Appreciate the invite Mark but I'm generally unavailable during the times the g2g's are scheduled due to some personal responsibilities. I'm sure Stan and I would get along famously assuming we didn't kill each other. ;D

Many of the rather, shall I type, antagonistic posters seem to have "personal responsibilities" when it comes time to meet face to face. It's always been that way. No big deal, just fact. As it turned out Stan couldn't make it so you would have had nothing to worry about. His acid tongue and martial arts skills were on the home couch. As for Mike Williams and Mike Vick? Well, suffice it to type intelligent thoughts and crisp decisions as to their futures were made, packaged and sent to One Buc for the new regime's approval. And the draft of course. Done deals.....
We arent asleep Unc, but also don't have to sit around search listening to police scanners or digging through every police report in hopes of finding an athlete.
So you're not monitoring the 670 (a true number) arrests of those named Mike Williams in Hillsborough County on a continuous basis? What, exactly, is it that you do?
Party in Lutz?
Is all the local media asleep?
with the possible exception of PR . .. . yesnot saying the local media needs to monitor 911 and police records, but you would think that anyone covering the Bucs over this recent period would've have, at a minimum, known there were problems with Williams . . of some kind. Even the contract is structured to reflect that, isn't it?Have to love a player throwing a massive house party on a Friday and then totally crapping the bed on a Sunday . . . nothing says "professional" quite like that.

Is it the media's responsibility to report on the social lives of all of the players no matter what the timing of said social events?
Define social lives and social events
Is it the media's responsibility to report on the social lives of all of the players no matter what the timing of said social events?
No, but if a player is being a nuisance to his neighbors, causing trouble, getting into legal issues, it's well within the rights and responsibilities of the local media to expose it.Also, throwing a massive house party on the evening before traveling for a road game displays questionable commitment to your team. Seems like that fat contract put #19 into "make it rain" mode.

I don't know about "responsibility," but the media generally reports "news" I would think that Williams lifestyle during the Schiano "clean house" era and in a contract year . . and then the Bucs giving him a contract . . presented an opportunity for "news" and the timing of that event to the Dallas game seems to raise questions. It's easier to draw a possible connection in hindsight, no doubt, but the Bucs have "beat" writers. Maybe Williams was the beneficiary of all the other distractions, who knows? I am not a reporter, but reporters often report on things that fit with an established theme. I could read William twitter posts -- and that is the extent of my knowledge - and see a "cashed in on big contract, now going south" story. I presume the beat writers have way more info,

You guys would be fine, Stan's a pretty cool cat. And if Garv and I could watch the draft at Champs together without fisticuffs, then anything is possible.Still think the next G2G needs to be held here in Hawaii.

LOL! Or 4Bucs going back a decade. Seriously though Doc, I'm over whatever it was. Freeman? Favre? I apologize for letting it get personal and have grown to appreciate your posts. Same goes for dalbuc who used to bother me for reasons forgotten. Intelligent posts are worthwhile no matter if we're in agreement.

The party in question occurred prior to the fat contract if I'm not mistaken. In addition, other than the facebook posting, what else was known about this story at the time it occurred? Whether right or wrong, it's worth taking a look at Steve White's comments regarding the Williams situation specifically and when players party in general. I'm not sure how involved the media should be in players or anyone else's private lives.
Maybe Williams was the beneficiary of all the other distractions, who knows?
What other distractions? As an aside....WDAE's reporting of this story has it on the Ron an Ian page...who seem to never stop talking about strippers, strip clubs and nightlife.
In reading about Williams' exploits - it is multiple parties - the singular reference was for a party the evening before the eve of a regular season game. The calls for police and firemen were multiple for the events Williams hosted. With the multiple calls one would have thought this might have been an issue known to the bucs beforehand. My reading gave me the indication Williams hosting the parties was post the contract... that was an indication as opposed to fact. And being sued for 50K in damages goes along with the parties evidently - and the implication that Williams (represented by counsel) has backed away from an agreed settlement. And his agent now offering that Williams' behavior issues are now a thing of the past.

So what you're saying is that there could have been public knowledge of Williams partying ways to the Bucs and media prior to the extension for Williams. Therefore Mark Dominik , who decided guaranteeing this guy close to $16mil was a good idea, should have been chewed up and spit out by PR in the same fashion they did to Schiano or other less provable issues earlier this season? Now we're on to something.
No, I am saying the articles available provided the above information.
