I am a fan of Dom and not as much a fan of Schiano, but its hard to watch Schiano taking all the heat for the team's performance especially when you think about this:The outrage over this season is largely related to the difference between actual performance and EXPECTATIONS. The EXPECTATION that the Bucs were a playoff team was largely driven by Dominick with his (paraphrasing) "we're done building" comments and free agent signings. The GM having playoff expectation is fine, but when you consider that Dom was in a unique position to assess the actual status of team when those expectations were built, you really have to wonder about those expectations. For example:1. Revis was the crown jewel of the offseason. Dom absolutely 100% knew that Revis would be limited (i.e., that his impact would not be as profound as expected by fans getting Revis) for at least most of the season.2. Joseph and Nicks- most fans talked about the impact of having Joseph and Nick back. Dom was uniquely situated to know that Joseph would not be healthy and likely knew about Nicks and the toe3. Freeman -- this is the big one. Dom knows whatever Freemans issues are long before the season, he did not give him the long-term deal for a reason. Dom has to know BEFORE the season what Walter Football reported on the eve of the season4. Bowers - at a minimum Dom had to know better than the fans the risk the Bucs were taking with Bowers (and not resigning Bennett)Dom played a big role in the playoff expectation - in part because his job is to fill the seats - so the question is why does he play such a small role in the fallout when the team doesn't meet those expectations, particularly given his unique insight into where the team stood? I doubt any fan would think we are a "playoff" team in the offseason if they knew we would play with a rookie 3rd round QB. How about with our supposed fifth year starting QB collapsing? Not just playing poorly, but actually collapsing. At an absolute minimum, Dom had to know those scenarios were a possibility, maybe even likely, and yet the boards are filled with Schiano venom, but nothing for Dom?
saw this after this post, but here is Fennelly making a similar point, albeit indirectly:"It’s easy to think this whole season was a waste — Revis was supposed to be a finishing touch, and probably would have been if the Bucs offense had not evaporated to the extent that it did. In a sense, bringing in Revis made no sense if the Bucs didn’t believe in Josh Freeman anymore, and apparently Greg Schiano didn’t. He might not get to see the 2014 Revis"

Lol, I should've picked a better title, I meant where is he in the discussion. I will edit it for you!
From the Fab 5:"This has easily been one of the weirdest and most difficult seasons in Buccaneers history. To see a team with some (false) playoff hopes jettison its supposed franchise quarterback a month into the regular season when he is in the midst of a contract year, while dealing with a MRSA outbreak and an 0-8 start was an explosive mix that no one saw coming. That mixture of disappointment could ultimately cost head coach Greg Schiano or general manager Mark Dominik – or both – their jobs after the New Orleans game. The good news is that while this Buccaneers team is not as talented as most folks, including yours truly, thought at the beginning of the season, . . .
7-9 talent max..Dom failed to address TE or the slot WR spot or draft an interior OL just in case Nicks or Joseph acted up again (hello 32nd ranked offense).. Everything else covered in opening post.
The TE thing still baffles me. I love the surprise Wright has been. The reality is we've been told time and time again that its a deemphasized position in this offense, hence no need for a playmaker. Then we hear midseason that Eifert wouldve been the pick had we held onto it. It comes across as poor evaluation of our offensive talent and lack of a plan. If Eifert was seriously being considered then the position was known to be deficient. A legit TE wouldn't be the end all but would certainly have helped out Glennon to move the chains.
When has Dom ever talked during the season?
Every week during the Bucs Radio pre-game show.
Dom's main mistake was relying on so many injured players to return to their former Pro bowl level selves. You have to have a decent back up plan that doesn't involve undrafted players. Freeman was just a head case no one could've been 100% that he was gonna be a headcase or a super star. Hindsight is 20/20 but if Schiano and Dom were split on the QB the person who was wrong on Free should be fired.
