That was one of the arguments against replay.I think it is worth it though if they get these calls right.
I wonder if anyone is paying attention to how much time is wasted while coaches delay so their video people can look at replays to see if it is worth challenging a call? 2 minutes in the 9th inning last night while Gibbons b$ed with the umpires and then decided not to challenge a call that was correct.
Seeing as managers can not challenge after the 7th inning, this BSing was irrelevant to replay.

What do you think he was talking to them about? Which strip joint they were heading over to after the game? He went out there to get them together to see if they would look at replay. The managers can do that, it is just the umpires decision on whether to review or not.
Did that two minutes actually make any difference? It is not different than if the call was bad and the manager went out to yell at the ump. Same amount of time being taken in this instance yet one can actually change the call. Tigers had two calls over turned in one game, took maybe 5-7 minutes tops for both combined to be reviewed and changed. If the replay system wasn't there it would have been 3-4 minutes of a manager screaming at the ump with no chance of a different outcome. It is the first season of it, so yes it isn't the greatest yet, but it's a lot better than not having one. Football replay takes WAY longer yet we love that.
That 2 minutes start adding up (sometimes it is 5). I watched Maddon do it twice on opening night for several minutes. Last night's game took almost 3 1/2 hours for a game that other than a couple of innings had little scoring. At this point we are just adding to the drag of the game so that we may be able to overturn a call or two a game, many of which have no effect on the outcome of the game. And we still can't review some things anyway.
