Helluva pitching duel between Archer and Weaver. Its 1-0 Rays now, thanks to Escobar, hopefully they can hang on.

Impressive by Archer, though still could not get past 6 innings.

He may have been up there in the pitch count. I haven't checked the box score. Lester and Scherzer [sp?] had a nice pitching duel last night too. But they had to pull Lester after only 5 innings because he had already thrown close to 100 pitches.Meanwhile, Tanaka is 6-0 IIRC.  It may be time to take a look at those Japanese pitchers routines. I believe they pitch every 3 games, and throw way more pitches than MLB pitchers do here. I heard Leo Malzone [sp?] on talk radio the other day. He was saying nowadays, college recruiters don't care about a kids talent when they recruit them.  All they care about is how high they score on the radar gun.  It was an interesting interview.

He had thrown 104 pitches in 5 and 2/3rds innings.

Ok thanks. He may have been a little wild, walking 5. But still a good outing for him.
