In 2000 close to the election, we passed a large demonstration at a stop-light close to the health food store where we went for a late-late lunch.
The demonstrators were denouncing Bush as a candidate, not for his policies, but hateful things about Bush as a person.
When we came out after lunch, there was a large stream of people walking past us.
One somewhat large girl about 22-23 broke free of the stream and dashed into a store in front of where we were standing. She emerged with a candy bar, and approached us and went thru her rehearsed speech. We show no reaction to her speech and she assumed we saw the election her way-----we didn't mislead her---just stayed quiet.
We engaged in a conversation about her, not politics. She was from Maryland about 940 miles away. She then pointed to about 9 Greyhound type buses, which were not there before we entered the health food store, and said her group would ride all night and be in Atlanta, (about 480 miles away), in the morning, to continue their protest in Atlanta tomorrow.
These protest demonstrations we are seeing are not spontaneous, they are
choreographed.
