I wonder how members of this board feel about Charter Schools.
Because it made such a difference in my life, I believe education is the way out of the lower middle class into success and happiness in life.
In the inner areas of many of our large cities, education is quite subpar.
I heard that in Baltimore virtually no students from the inner city in the 5th grade could score on the level of the average 5th graders across the US.
If I was a parent in an inner city, I certainly would want the option to choose a better school for my child, rather than being forced to send my child to the local government school that had a long time history of providing poor education.
Yet it is in the districts in the inner cities where opposition by local government to charter schools is the strongest,
even though that is where Charter Schools are needed the most.
Your thoughts??
