pfft . . .as I understand the facts, and I could be wrong, the 71 year old complained to management (i.e., stepped away fro the dispute) ... got no satisfaction ...and STILL went back to confront the guy. come on now . .. .

If "if" and "buts" were candy and nuts . .. .. there is almost no way this death occurs WITHOUT THE GUN. The gun is the proximate cause of the death and this event is a perfect example of "more guns=more gun violence.' This is a gun presumably carried for self defense .. and yet because it is around when tempers flare .. .a person is dead, there is a widow and a 2 year old without a father. People getting mad at one another is hardly an uncommon event ... guns change the stakes . . . .your FEAR (and the fact this was not your family member) .. leaves you in the illogical and DISHONEST position of ignoring the role of the gun. . . don't worry, you've got plenty of company in this thread ;)

I have said the opposite, the dispute was caused by stupidity, it was completely avoidable BUT the presence of the gun raises the CONSEQUENCES of the stupidity because guns are LETHAL. But for the gun there is almost no way this ends in a deathmore guns = more gun violence because guns purportedly purchased for "self-defense" get used on offense in the heat of passion etc . . a drunk guy kills his wife because a gun is in the home for "self-defense" . . . a child kills a sibling because . .a gun is in the home for "self-defense" . . . a person with temporary troubles "successfully" kills him or her self .. . because a gun is in the home for "self-defense" . . . an old guy in a movie theater kills another because he gets upset and . . . has a gun on him .. . . for "self defense"ironically, all those guns supposedly around for "self-defense" . . . were very likely NEVER used in self-defense
