If the victim, instead of making a scene, swallowed his pride and simply put his phone away, does the gun come into the equation?
If "if" and "buts" were candy and nuts . .. .. there is almost no way this death occurs WITHOUT THE GUN. The gun is the proximate cause of the death and this event is a perfect example of "more guns=more gun violence.' This is a gun presumably carried for self defense .. and yet because it is around when tempers flare .. .a person is dead, there is a widow and a 2 year old without a father. People getting mad at one another is hardly an uncommon event ... guns change the stakes . . . .your FEAR (and the fact this was not your family member) .. leaves you in the illogical and DISHONEST position of ignoring the role of the gun. . . don't worry, you've got plenty of company in this thread ;)
Well there is definitely one way the death could have been avoided. Your way, ban guns in the movie theater. I heard the other day that every theater around Aurora allowed guns except the one Holmes went to. Why do you believe he chose that particular theater?
If you carry a Conceal Weapons Permit you have the sensibilities to know how and when to use your weapon. If a person decides to go above and beyond his level of training like the 71 year old cop did then its called taking then established rules and framing them to what applies to you. At each theater window at the Cobb theater is it states No guns allowed. I know he will be in trouble for not following the rules for that...OBD
The real answer is to ban movie theaters. More movie theaters = more death in movie theaters
