There are some obvious questions the article didnt really go into... there were like 20 witnesses there including an off-duty cop. So you'd think there would be a consensus of what happened. The victim is actually a pretty big guy. They probably got into a verbal spat, someone threw the popcorn, and the old guy panicked. But you would think being a former police captain that he'd have a cooler head. You got to wonder if a little dementia was setting in. Spurts of violence is not uncommon with that. Studies show up to 60% of people with dementia show random acts of aggression sometimes for no reason at all. Im all for the 2nd amendment and all. But people with impaired mental conditions shouldnt be carrying weapons like that. The judge today denied bail. So it doesnt look like the court is buying any self-defense argument right now.

Being that the guy was taller you think the short guy was intimidated? Here is my take...Here we have two grown men that could have defused the situation if they both would have just presented their opinions with respect. First one is an aggressor and knows the laws and also has training to become the either the voice of reason. Second one.. is upset that he got turned in for his texting....in the Bistro area of the movie. Both men where wrong to let it escalate where popcorn got thrown and then one pulls a gun and shoots to kill. I seen both issues and at 71 years of age doesn't mean he lost all reasoning skills from his training and on the other hand at 43 years of age he should have relied on his training of hospitality of listening to your elders and politely walked away. Now neither did either. Both had points to prove and one walked away proving he was correct and the the other is no longer on the face of the earth. Neither person won...A very bad situation that could've been easily defused by walking away or separating themselves from the situation. Sorry for the Father who lost his life...That was way out of control....For the Ex Cop and Security guy for Bush Gardens you pull the trigger you better be able to live with the results becoming Judge, Jury, and Executioner over texting in a theater....Maybe you didn't like the salt or buttery popcorn but still no reason to kill some one...OBD

Assistant state attorney Manny Garcia told the judge that Reeves has a habit of confronting people who use phones in theaters. Garcia said he was contacted late Monday by a woman who said she had a similar incident with Reeves in December.“She was at the Cobb movie theater when she was confronted by the defendant for texting,” Garcia said. “He was glaring at her the entire time.”Garcia added that Reeves followed the woman to the bathroom, which “made her feel very uncomfortable.”Nocco said the sheriff’s office is looking into the report from the woman who said Reeves confronted her about texting at the theater in December.“What we’re doing is going back now, our detectives are investigating it and seeing if we can pull video and see is it the same person,” Nocco said. “We’re going to look into this matter.” http://tbo.com/news/crime/suspect-in-theater-shooting-goes-before-judge-today-20140114/

Let's see a photo of the victim when he was 12 y.o. before we jump to any conclusions.

Victim was white.

But was he "white white" or "white Hispanic" maybe a "white black man"

The old cop is a HERO!The punk on the cell phone was probably buying drugs or calling other gang members. I bet the ex-cop felt his life was in danger!Classic Stand Your Ground case, without a doubt....
