Because of the NRA’s lobbying influence, we have some insane GUN laws. For example, did you know a gun is only deadly if you buy from a licensed firearm dealer? It’s true. You can buy a gun from a private citizen with no background check, so privately sold guns must not be deadly.
Well, here’s the latest version of for-profit gun laws.
The Violence Agains Women Act (VAWA) has long states that if you are CONVICTED of violence against your wife, you cannot legally possess firearms. This is because the gun violence rate is very high when there is a female connected to a violent male.
The current version of VAWA has been stalled in Congress because it removes the marriage requirement. Makes complete sense because an abusive male with a gun is a serious threat to the female whether they are married or not (kind of like a gun is deadly whether sold commercially or privately)
With NRA money hanging in the balance the GOP created its own version of VAWA that limits gun confiscation to married couples.

It’s well documented and even unchallenged that the heightened risk of gun violence is NOT LIMITED TO THOSE HOLDING A MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE ..... but....but... the common sense House version would impact gun sales more and the NRA wants to be able to sell as many guns as possible, even if that means selling them to people who are likely to use them to kill women), so enter Rubio and the GOP
