There have been 29 times where there was a Supreme Court vacancy during an
Election Year.
In 19 of those cases, the President and the Senate majority were of the same party
and in 17 of those 19 cases, the Supreme Court nominee was confirmed.
There were 10 cases where the President and control of the Senate were
in different parties.
In only 2 of those 10 cases, was the Supreme Court candidate confirmed.
