The New York Times -- CITING INTERNAL WHITE HOUSE MEMOS -- says Trump ordered the security clearance for Kushner.

If you recall, everyone with the last name Trump or related to Trump DENIED that the POTUS had any role:
"The disclosure of the memos contradicts statements made by the president, who told The New York Times in January in an Oval Office interview that he had no role in his son-in-law receiving his clearance."
Ivanka Trump, the president’s eldest daughter and Mr. Kushner’s wife, said the same thing three weeks ago.
Even Kushner's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, said that the POTUS played no role in pressuring security people to issue a clearance for Kushner:
Mr. Kushner’s lawyer, Abbe D. Lowell, also said that at the time the clearance was granted last year that his client went through a standard process
Here's the funniest (saddest) part. Kushner and the Trumps LIED to their own attorney who then publicly uttered the lie on their behalf. This is how an attorney says "my clients lied to me":
Peter Mirijanian, a spokesman for Mr. Lowell, said on Thursday: “In 2018, White House and security clearance officials affirmed that Mr. Kushner’s security clearance was handled in the regular process with no pressure from anyone. That was conveyed to the media at the time, and new stories, if accurate, do not change what was affirmed at the time.”
In other words, I, Abbe Lowell, went to the "White House and security clearance officials" and they AFFIRMED to me that Kushner's security clearance "was handled in the regular process with no pressure from anyone" and I, Abbe Lowell, conveyed that to the media. This new story, if true, doesn't change what was affirmed to me at the time.
