I pretty much think anything coming out of Hollywood these days (movie-wise) is complete garbage more times than not. Seriously, is it me or have they remade every film known to man? Kinda sad, actually.
I'm really hoping for a Dune remake. I started watching the original in the early 90s, I just finished it in 2013.

While I will agree that most Hollywood movies are low grade garbage, I do feel that once in a while a big budget Hollywood movie will be massively under-appreciated and not recognized with the praise it deserves (This especially being the case for remakes, which let's be honest, we'll usually get 10 Friday the 13th '09s and The Wicker Man 06's for every The Wolfman '10 and Night of the Living Dead '90), The Wolfman being only one example. I feel the same way about the Star Wars prequels (Episode II and III anyway), as those two films, along with the aforementioned wolfman, really are one of the few Hollywood masterpieces out there. And that's why we reviewed this movie; because the fact that it is what it is, a big budget Hollywood movie about a rampaging werewolf, is going to be a turn-off for a lot of people, especially considering the unfavorable reviews. And yes, we will probably try and do the same for Star Wars Episode II and III.

You know what I'd like to see? A decent Wicker Man remake. Saw the original 1973 one recently and it's now one of my all-time favorite movies. I love Nick Cage, but the new one was an insult to Woodward's masterpiece.

Didn't know you were a big Sting fan. I saw Dune a long time ago and only remember it because Sting was in it.

American History X comes to mind when reading your post. Took forever for that one to get praise.

American history X was good, though admittedly it doesn't hold a candle to fight club. The Star Wars OT was critically panned on release too, critics said that Lucas "ruined movies" and "emphasized effects and not story." Now it's being studied at top tier film schools (Then again, so is the PT, but for some reason people still bash it...Odd.)
