What Nixon did was act on a tip that the Democrats were doing something improper (just like Rudy acting on the Ukraine conspiracy theory) so, among other things, he bugged the DNC offices and stole documents from the DNC and then (just like Trump) covered it up and obstructed justice when the investigation began.
Trumps is arguably bigger because he tried to get a foreign government to smear his political rival, by using $400 million in Congressional-approved aid and, most significantly, in contravention of US Policy against an enemy (Russia)
