Public Utility

I'm reading more and more than Republicans/Conservatives for their own reasons want to turn social media platforms into public utilities.

To me, that sounds like socializing them... but maybe I'm not understanding the reasoning.

So since this board is 95% right-leaning, do you

A.) Want social media run by the state as a public utility?

B.) If so, why or why not?

This is not to sling mud, I'm just curious.

My personal feeling is that Conservatives feel like social media isn't fair...that it is an extension of freedom of speech etc... and thus shouldn't be private.
