Funny thing is Vin, is that in this thread you are advocating and supporting removing illegally owned firearms from the hands of criminals. I don't think anybody is against that. The problem is removing legally owned firearms from the hands of law abiding citizens. ONE of the arguments against the current wave of proposals is that they do exactly that and the bad guys still have theirs. And you can't say the wouldn't, otherwise, why the big discussion about stop and frisk?

Few quick comments:1. you are assuming all the guns being confiscated are illegal2. you are assuming all involved are criminals, the clear point of the article is that all are not3. most "illegal" guns start as "legal" guns because we have a country that allows them to be sold in the MILLIONS . . The biggest point though . . . . and the reason Illuminator has so much egg on his face . . . . is that Stop & Frisk would not work if more guns did not equal more gun violence. In other words, Stop & Frisk works to reduce gun violence by FRISKING . . . that is a word that means searching . .  and the search is not for "criminals" ..  . it is searching for . . . . a GUN . ..  and then taking that gun off the street. These boards are littered with people saying that reducing the number of guns would NOT reduce gun violence.  See Illuminator/VonMIses/Buttfucious as an example.  It was never true, as illustrated, but some will maintain as much . . . . . or just scramble around like Illuminator . .  looking for some way to weasel out of his/her own words

The insane thing is that the article says nothing really about taking away guns or gun control at all. .

"Less than two weeks later, those steps led to the arrest of one of the Rockwell Boys for the shooting. It wasn’t a kid from the original four, but an associate police found through the same network. At the same time, in the days the case was open, McNaughton’s cops were all over the predicted scenes. They made a dozen more arrests than in the same period the year before, catching one of the Rockwell Boys with a gun a block from where they expected the next spree — a shootout that McNaughton says never did happen."That is a Stop & Frisk and the reason that they are having success in Chicago is not just that they are using data to predict a future crime and then flooding the potential scene -- although that is a part, the presence helps -- it is that they are using Stop & Frisk.  Look again where the new police chief came from. It's discussed in the article:“Chicago is the new New York when it comes to stop-and-frisk,” said Harvey Grossman, legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union in Illinois. There's plenty more info available. From a simple Google search:How stop and frisk works in Chicago | Bleader | Chicago Readerwww.chicagoreader.com/Bleader/.../how-stop-and-frisk-works-in-chicag...?Aug 26, 2013 - Police practices in Chicago may be less flawed than New York's, but they cause the same tensions between public safety and personal liberty.Poor data keep Chicago's stop and frisk hidden from scrutiny | WBEZ ...www.wbez.org/.../poor-data-keeps-chicagos-stop-and-frisk-hidden-scruti...?Sep 12, 2013 - In Chicago, stop and frisk is alive and well – but relatively unchecked. Encounters with Chicago police officers often begin with a little-known ...Chicago, New York officers spar over stop-and-frisk policy - CNN.comwww.cnn.com/2013/08/14/us/new-york-chicago-stop-frisk?Aug 14, 2013 - Police departments in Chicago and New York are trading barbs after a federal judge ruled that New York City's stop-and-frisk policy was ...Stop and frisk in Chicago - Interesting Chicago - ChicagoNowwww.chicagonow.com/interesting-chicago/.../stop-and-frisk-in-chicago/?..

Again, the "frisk" of that story was fairly incident, to what they are talking about.  The fact that the data analysis pointed them to associates of the shooter and to the location is really what it is about and then go figure when they detain suspects they search them.  This program is actually quite interesting as I read more on it and a lot more interesting than being reduced to a simple stop and frisk policy.

That's drawing a pretty fine line, focusing on the article but not the substance.  The "frisk" aspect is NOT highlighted in the story. Correct, even though I provide a quote that relates to the FRISK. The FRISK aspect is not highlighted in the article because as I said before the data portion has an intriguing "Minority Report" quality to it. BUT, the actual program used in Chicago that is presently working to reduce gun violence  is 100% Stop & Frisk.  In fact, Chicago hired the guy from NYC to bring the program to Chicago.  If you read the article you should notice that they say its not just flooding a potential crime scene.Anyway, the point isn't what this specific article highlights, it is that Stop & Frisk works . . . . even though Illuminator says that it should not . . . . I mean he said that once . .  but now . . .well . .  um . . . he can explain, he's just here for attention anyway.  ;)

Roses are redViolets are blueI've got a gunGet in the van

Illuminator, when you crawl out from under that rock, you should give some thought to self-esteem classes.  I mean, I think you are WRONG about guns, but that doesn't mean you should call yourself "an inbred, bucktoothed halfwit with penis breath and a mullet"

Less guns in the wrong hands decreases gun violence. .

. Anyone telling you that "MORE GUNS = MORE GUN VIOLENCE" is just flat out wrong, and likely an inbred, bucktoothed halfwit with penis breath and a mullet."

The Ruskies are coming! And they've got fully automatic, recoilless shotguns! It's called the assault shotgun, because that's what an assault weapon is - fully automatic. Watch towards the end of the vid when he dips it into a bucket of water. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOoUVeyaY_8
