House Democrats and a New York state prosecutor are separately trying to get Trump’s accounting firm to turn over his financial records, material that could include the tax returns he has long refused to release publicly. The House committees are also subpoenaing the president’s banks.
If the House loses (and it might) it would be a setback for Congressional oversight and Presidential politics/elections going forward BUT. . .
the much biggeR case is the Prosecutor's case precisely because Trump has had to argue that he is LITERALLY above the law:
"Trump contends presidents should have absolute immunity from state criminal investigations while in office to ensure against unwarranted distractions."
A President could murder someone on national television and not be charged?
Besides, I think that Trump is being investigated for conduct BEFORE he was President
