If you are a Trump supporter, chances are you live in 'Merica because you get your information about the world from Faux News and a whole host of sales people. There are sales people on the left for sure, but all the credentialed press is primarily in America, on e Faux news in 'Merica the press has been largely relegated, fallingn in behind Ingraham, Hannity etc (the sales people), but even the "news" is very different, in an echo-chamber way.
Here's one very clear example. Last night there was a police shooting in Atlanta. Obviously there are also RACE & POLICE BRUTALITY protests going on across the world. The facts are still developing on the Atlanta shooting. But here are the headlines
CNN: "Officer Fatally Shoots Black Man, Then Protest Turn Fiery in Atlanta"
NBC: "Atlanta officer fired, chief resigns amid protests over Rayshard Brooks death"
FAUX: "Wendy’s restaurant torched, interstate blocked after death of Rayshard Brooks."
FAUX also provided "analysis" . . from BERNIE KERIK under this headline: "Tell 'thugs' not to attack our police"
BERNIE KERIK . . . pardoned by Trump on EIGHT FELONIES . . but perhaps most significnatly he is a corrections guy, by trade WHO ADVOCATED FRO CRIMINAL JUST REFORM ONLY . . .AFTER HE SPENT TIME IN PRISON.
AND HERE IS HIS MINDSET . . .the mindset that FAUX wants to convey to 'Merica
""I think some of the reforms need to be talked about. And I think the mayors, these radical, left-wing, you know, progressive mayors and governors, they could start with reforms," he said. "Like, tell lthe thugs in your community don't attack our police, don't assault our police, don't resist arrest, don't obstruct or interfere with that arrest, don't run from the police.
"Don't run cops over with your car. Don't take their tasers, don't take their weapons, don't take their guns," he continued. "Because if you do, we're going to use force and we're not going to lose if we use force."
For sure the victim was almost asking to get shot by turning with the taser. BUT THE POLICE KNOW WHO HE IS, KNOW HES INTOXICATED, KNOW WHERE HE LIVES, KNOW HES ON FOOT, KNOW HES UNARMED (besides the taser he just discharged) . . and, again, his initial crime is sleeping in a car in a drive thru.
WE dont know yet how that turn into a scuffle on the ground, but we do know they adminstered some form of field sobriety test, which typically takes time.
PEOPLE SHOULD NOT RESIST ARREST AND CERTAINLY SHOULD TAKE AN OFFICERS WEAPON, BUT NEITHER SHOULD POLICE USE DEADLY FORCE IS APPROPRIATE FOR A KNOWN PERSON FLEEING A NON-VIOLENT OFFENSE
In any event, we will never close the divide when people get such different information.
