Trump wants to get rid of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Of course, that darn Separation of Power principle will get in the way because congress is responsible for passing the laws. Trump thinks Twitter and Facebook are cramping his style because he can't post whatever lies he wants. Biden is interesting in amending this law as well, making the media platforms responsible for the baseless conspiracy theories that are spread
What rescinding this would do is make the social media companies liable for content posted on their platforms, and making them pre-screen all their content before its posted.
Sorry, Peter Pan, that would mean no more forwarding ridiculous theories from Mary Poppins and Professor Poopipants. But why would Trump want to shut that down, when he is the Chief Bullshit Promoter? The only reason is that he envisions a government censorship bureau to make Twitter and Facebook his own propoganda machine like he already does with Voice of America.
We'll see, but I somehow don't think Trump is really goingto block Peter Pan and the Nuts from Neverland from forwarding fabricated conspiracy theories about watermarks on the ballot and Black Hats in the military leadership.
