...to change or abolish laws that allow police officers to take property, money or assets from people who have not been convicted of crimes. Most states and the federal government have such laws, which funnel billions of dollars in proceeds to police and prosecutors.
In many cases, it will cost more in attorney's fees to reclaim what was taken than what it is worth. Civil Asset Forfeiture laws, in my opinion, are just licenses for the police to steal. They only need to "suspect" criminal activity to confiscate your assets.
Most recently, a woman had $100k taken from her for the sole reason that she was travelling with that much money. It's not against the law to travel with $100k, unless you are travelling internationally. Something needs to change.
