Should Bowles have gone for two? The announcer thought two, I thought two before and after the decision. if Bowles had gone for two and didn't get it I wouldn't be the one coming on here and criticizing that decision. Upon further review though, I can see why one point was the right choice. We lost the coin flip and gave the ball to Mahomes and that was that, but here's why one point was the right decision.
There was no Mike Evans or Chris Godwin or even Jalen McMillan. If you are going for it with the game on the line you can't run the ball from the two. So it has to be a pass. The Chiefs will probably use a timeout and make sure Otton is covered like a blanket. So the main targets would be Palmer, Shepard and Miller. None of those are going to win a jump ball. You can't count on Mayfield being able to scramble around until somebody gets open, or scramble into the end zone. The fact that Evans and Godwin were out is probably the reason Bowles went for the safe choice. Sorry it didn't work out, but it was the right choice.
If Bowels had decided to go for 2 and it failed, posters would claim it was a bad decision. Hindsight is always 20 20.
You def have the option to run the ball on the 2 yard line. Not saying that should of been the call, but the threat of the run we've used to create open lanes in the red zone certainly helps.
The TD that sent it into OT was a pass from the 2 to a wide open Miller

Definitely
There were several posters saying the Bucs should not have punted on 4th and 16 from the Bucs 24 yd line with 2:49 left. The Buc got the ball back BEFORE the 2;00 warnign and scored
or how about that fake punt . .the week before. . now there was some aggression lol
Sorry it didn't work out, but it was the right choice.
You are 100% right.
It was the right choice for a passive, sackless coach who plays to “not lose” vs. playing to win.

like that fake punt!
oh wait . . that was last game
In this game he should NOT have punted on 4th and 16 from our 24 with 2:46 left!!

Undoubtably the Chiefs would have tried harder to defend if the Bucs were going for 2 to win the game.😁😁
You are going against the back to back champs who are 7-0. You are on the road and outmatched from talent perspective. You’ve seen Mahomes, Mount Rushmore all time great, do it time and time again. You don’t play for overtime
his first mistake was premature ejaculating and calling a time out after palmer catch. You basically give Mahomes 27 seconds to easily drive down field with all time outs to kick a game winning field goal. Bucs got lucky.
so you score and are down 1. You have lost 2 games in a row and are playing with house money as damn near 10 point underdogs. You go for 2! No doubt.
Sure some would have been upset but if the game goes to OT, about 90% chance you lose anyway.

The only real chance TB had was to go for it. Listen: Mahomes is 6-0 in regular season OT games. Overall including playoffs, he's lost just two OT games, and hasn't lost any OT games in three years. You aren't beating Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes in Arrowhead in OT. And especially not with the 26th ranked defense. Coen had Spags on the ropes on that last drive; he gave up an 80 yd drive in a little over a minute; Coen had him guessing, which almost never happens. Bowles should've jumped on that, and forced the issue.
By going to OT, Bowles gave Andy a free hand on what he could call; the entire playbook was open. If Coen/Baker had converted that 2-pointer, yeah, KC had probably a little under :30 seconds and three TOs, but it shrinks the playbook some, mostly because the only two WRs that really knew that subpackage of plays were Justin Watson and Mecole Hardman.
Would that guarantee a W for TB? Hell no. But it moves the odds a little more in the Bucs favor. Everyone I know couldn't believe that Bowles wanted to go to OT. The most common text I got was, "He just gave Andy the whole playbook."
Common sense, statistics, and all the talking heads say you go for two there. Bowles is freaking clueless and needs to be shown the door. Plain and simple. He isn;t a good coach. He isn't even that great of a d-coordinator. The game has passed his style by. This Tampa team will accomplish nothing meaningful with Bowles at the head.

I’m sure there would have been a few simpletons doing that. But most people here appear to understand going for two was the right move, regardless of result.
If the play failed, the play call would have been criticized more than the decision to go for two. Going for the win is 100% the right decision in that situation, regardless of outcome.

This reinforces how clueless he is.
