I'll split the baby. Evans is currently the best offensive player ever drafted by the Bucs. But Wirfs can take Evans spot over if he continues this level of play another 6-8 years.

Evans is the franchise player.

Wirfs is the franchise player and the best player in franchise history

Easy there Chief, while Wirfs is certainly special, Mike has done it for a decade.

Not even sort of a slam on Wirfs, he's amazing but, Mike is our best player on offense ever.

You're wrong. Wirfs is a better player at a more important position. His Super Bowl film was historically good.

Wirfs is the Randy Moss of offensive tackles and Mike Evans is the Richmond Webb of WRs. Before you knock that comparison, Webb has 2 1st team All-Pros, 2 second team All-Pros and 7 Pro-Bowls. I might be being generous.

Or, we would need to get another 4-5 good years out of Wirfs for him to even be in a conversation with Mike Evans.  Wirfs himself would tell you this.

It's okay to be wrong here.  We all love them both.

Jesus Christ...

Mike has a ticket to Canton as of today and is on pace to continue breaking records. Wirfs is obviously elite and can POSSIBLY replace him one day, which is ironic as you said he would need to be moved to guard (pre-draft, while I was the only one consistently pounding the drum for him and posting my mocks taking him every time).

I also noticed you throwing around pro bowls and AP nods to justify Wirfs.

And, referring to the best player in franchise history, I'll take the guy with ELEVEN pro bowl nods, NINE AP nods, MVP votes, and a DPOY award (to go with his bust in Canton).

Bucs had a super bowl caliber offense which is more than sufficient to win it all if the defense was just NFL average.

Bucs were 16th in points allowed, which is average. In the playoff game they gave up 23, which is league average, but remember the offense is responsible for some of those points. Washington scored 23 at Philly. Washington scored 38 in Detroit with a missed FG so it should have been 41 offensive points.

The Bucs defense was average and actually above average in the playoffs.

All of this ignores the insane TOP difference, lack of turnovers and playmaking.

I didn't say he "needed" to move to guard. I said "Hall of Fame guard". If everyone knew he was going to a hall of fame tackle he wouldnt have been the 4th tackle off the board. My mistake was worrying too much about his squatty body type. It didn't matter because he's so athletic and has long arms. But I had the words "hall of fame" in my Wirfs write up and it's still used against me.

You know what else ignores TOP difference, lack of turnovers and playmaking? The score board. Bucs offense choked the game away in the 4th qtr. Two botched plays.
