nitey-100% accurate about the triple or double team. All past years we have tried to draft based need. I wouldn't mind picking up Watkins. DE can be addressed later through FA or later rd picks, especially when Clowney is off the board. Now if its a choice between Clowney and Watkins....that's a situation I would love for us to be in.
Don't get me wrong, but if Clowney was still somehow on the board, I'd really want to see what the trade offers would be from teams wanting to trade up. Not saying that I'd definitely take them, but if someone offered a RGIII deal, I definitely would. However, if Clowney and Watkins were both somehow still on the board at 7 (and I don't think that's even possible) - that would be one hard decision for me as GM, especially if I had already picked up some DE help in FA.
If we fix Dline in free agency I think the pick HAS to be Watkins....he's too much of a playmaker . He's the missing piece that can make our offense extremely hard to stop.We need slot wr , we need speed , we need a guy who can get YAC ..... Sammy can be all of that and more.

Agree that's what I would do at this point.
What a **CENSORED**ty and poorly researched mock draft. First of all, I'm not saying the Bucs do or do not need another receiver, but they clearly have a number two already in Mike Williams which the author completely neglected to mention. Second, the author says that OSU DE is a perfect fit for Lovie's Tampa 2. It's been discussed to death but Lovie isn't coming here to run the Tampa 2. Smfh at these idiots.
No it isn't, we have 2 jump ball WRs and nothing else behind them. Losing one of them this season to injury showed us exactly what we have behind them, nothing. WR is a much much much bigger need than a QB because if you don't have someone capable to worry defences if one of your top WRs is injured you end up with what we had last season, blanket coverage and a stacked box. I'm all for Sammy Watkins on our O, move him around and cause mismatches with his speed. As for DE in the second, it's not a bad option if we don't get a DE in FA.
Do me a favor and reread my post because clearly you didn't understand what I said.
Oh I understood what you said, I just disagreed with you about it being a poorly researched mock draft. They hit our needs pretty well, perhaps they haven't worded it the way you feel happy with, but in essence that was a fairly spot on Mock.
If Clowney and maybe Barr are both gone, you take Watkins without hesitation. Then take Amaro/ Jenkins in the 2nd.Our offense would be VJax (seriously, u said overrated??), MWill, Watkins, Amaro, Martin. ^^^ that should be a lethal offense

We need Sammy Watkins to be "Desean Jackson" in Tedford's system. Also Watkins is a player where you can just give him a screen and he's gone... When was the last time we had a successful screen play. Watkins makes Boyd look much better then he is. Watkins also has great hands. Throw him a rocket on a slant play and he's also gone... BIG piece to this offence.
Just send this in. Its just about perfect.
Ahhh yes, I see the we win with WRs crowd is out again today. We need help at WR we don't need number 7 overall level help. You know what will help this offense a crap ton more than Watkins....better QB play and no better WRs better QB play.

If that was directed at me then yes he is.I've seen people say (and mean) that he's an All Pro which is something he's never been close to being and an elite wideout which is laughable unless you incorrectly think elite means at least a 3rd of the league had an elite wideout. He puts together a couple of borderline Pro Bowl seasons and suddenly he''s this top wideout.

I can see your point but I would counter which QB is worth the #7 pick. I don't like Manziel and I think he is the only QB that might be at 7. IMO Watkins is a top ten pick at a skilled position of need. Its not a dire need but one that do wonders for this team. In a spread offense who is our #3? If you even utter the name Underwood....don't do it!!!
I don't like this mock. Watkins is awesome, but I don't think he is the smart pick for us. Id we aren't getting a QB or OL....then we need to trade back. I wouldn't hate it if we got Watson, but I think there is better value for us in this draft. In the second round....I hate it. I this is a weak DE class and Crichton is an ok prospect, but not a 2nd round pick. Especially when they have Donald Brown going directly after us. THAT kid is a stud D-lineman! But really I think we'd be smart to go D-line in Free Agency and stick to offense in this draft. Also, I don't buy that three TEs will go in the 1st round. That has only happened like once in 20 years. There will be one of the top three sitting there in the second, and that should be our pick. If Tim Wright works out then great, but we'd be stupid to cross our fingers and put all our eggs in that basket. We need one of those top three TEs and if the first two go off the board earlier than expected, we need to trade up to secure the third. IMO, if we leave this draft without a top 3 TE....then this draft was a failure.

There is more than 1 round. There are going to be a lot of WRs at the top of r2 that could help or god help us since we are looking for a slot maybe even, gasp, a mid round pick or imagine using some of our massive cap jack to get a bargain player who can be a #3 WR. Again, our last GM only signed the most expensive guys but recall we had a shot at a dude like Lance Moore a few years back. Those types of guys do hit FA.

Overrated - I think is too harsh. Not Elite I would say only two WR's are at that level (Megatron and Green). But you cannot deny he's a true #1 who is at the top of the league at his position.

I was sticking with the draft and not FA. You are correct that position can be addressed at FA, but since we are talking about the #7 pick Watkins is heads and shoulders better than anyone who will be available at later rounds. He IMO will be rated after the Combine if he participates the best WR prospect this year.
I'd much rather take a guy like Josh Huff in the 4th than use a top 10 pick on Watkins.Watkins is great, but unless he is Megatron or Randy Moss....I'm not using a top 10 pick on a WR.
