I pick on Clayton as an analyst a lot, but he gets props from me for doing his homework on our team. Liked the bit he did on Buccaneers.com about the state of our franchise.
With Bridgewater's frame concerns now eliminated, what remaining knock on him is there?
None....which unfortunately means we have no chance at him.
Wait.... JDouble will find something he doesnt like about Teddy B. I kid because I care. :p
I'm not crazy about Bridgewater. I don't think he sucks, but there is just something about him. I think he has the physical and mental skills to play the game, but I just get this feeling that he is mentally/emotionally still more child than man. I worry about him being able to walk into a veteran locker room and commanding the respect required to take charge and lead. I also worry about him failing early and then letting it snowball into a bad career. In my opinion he would be best served sitting for at least half a season while he matures a little. Physically and emotionally. Unfortunately he won't get that luxury and will be thrown directly into the fire no matter where he goes. With a guy like Luck, you saw the maturity beyond his years. The natural leadership. The comfort talking to the media. All that stuff on top of his amazing on the field ability is what made Luck such a phenomenal prospect. Even a guy like Manziel seems to have all the confidence and leadership qualities needed. The exude confidence and are clearly alpha dogs. I don't see that with Teddy and it makes me nervous. There is no other job in the world like being an NFL quarterback and it takes a certain type of mental make up.I'd still be stoked if we got him though and root him on 100%. Definitely wouldn't be mad. I just don't think he is quite the elite prospect he is being built up to be.

Nice analysis. May be true too.
Guys like Barr and Mack cant take too many knocks because of their weight because they dont know what type of defense they will be drafted into. Barr has a better chance of getting drafted as a DE at 255 than he would as an OLB at 280. They can market themselves to more teams at a lower weight

3-4 teams would jump at the chance to take an athletic 280 lb olb. Could either of these prospects shown up at Indy @ 280 with their explosion/athleticism in tact they absolutely would have. To suggest otherwise is naive. Barr already put on significant weight to get to 255. You would have an argument that these prospects are targeting a middle weight had either lost a bit to get to what they weighed in at. Indications are they both bulked up some coming to indy. They have both spent significant time in college strength and conditioning programs. You could say since Mack played lb in college (from what I've seen Buffalo looked like they moved him around in a number of positions) that putting on weight was not a significant focus of his regiment. You know that as soon as Barr made the position change to DE, bulking up became a significant focus for the UCLA S&C staff. Again, Mack seems to have more positional flexibility in a 4-3. We have at least seen him playing off the los, covering receivers, etc. So if he doesn't naturally fill out into a 275 pound playing weight it's not a huge deal. He projects easily to a 4-3 olb who can put his hand on the ground situationally. I don't see that being the case with Barr. I could be totally wrong and maybe he can play olb in a 4-3. I just haven't seen him playing in space on the limited videos I've watched. If he is limited in a 4-3 scheme to being a RE, he still has significant weight to gain. I'm not sure how people just sluff that off. He's already put on 10+ pounds from what he played at at UCLA (from what I gather). Looking at him, to me he looks like a narrow shoulder body type. Even at 6'5, not the frame that naturally packs away pounds. So you're projecting a guy who will need to play at 25 pounds heavier (minimum, I think that's generous) then what he played in college. While playing a position that his college team likely wanted him playing heavier. Some people seem to assume that's no big deal. I've seen plenty of 21/22 year old players hit what is their natural body weight and flat stick there. No matter what they do. Because no one is wanting to pack fat on the guy, watching him he's obviously going to make his money with speed/explosion. I just don't think it's a given that Anthony Barr fits as a 4-3 DE or ever will.
He's 255 . He doesn't have "significant" weight to gain. He's got about 10 pounds to gain. He's 6-5 and not very muscular yet like Mack is. He can gain that before minicamps if you put him with a personal trainer.Size concerns should be put to bed. A legit concern is if he is physical enough to play with his hand in the dirt every play. That's what you should be asking.

Agreed. When you consider that probably every other team will have a similar session with him about their team, he really did have a good grasp on our situation, players and plans

Start listing the NFL 4-3 every down defensive ends who play at 265.And again, this is a 21/22 year old young man who has been playing the position for a couple years now in a major college strength and conditioning program. You don't think he has been trying to put on productive weight since leaving high school? He's put on about 25 lbs over the last 4 years since he was a senior in high school. Sounds like he's jumped about 10 of that rather quickly (since the end of his final college season). Yeah, no biggie. Seems like a guy who will have no problem filling out another 15-20 (which I believe is minimum to play RE every down in the NFL).
I have been on the Greg Robinson bandwagon for awhile but I have a feeling he will gone before we pick, maybe even at #2 to the Rams. With that said, I really liked what I saw yesterday from Matthews and Lewan. On tape, I thought Matthews was a little on the small side but he very fundamentally sound and you can tell he is very well coached and polished. I also though Lewan wasn't as athletic as both Robinson and Matthews but he really impressed me with his speed and athleticism. He blew Robinson away in the 3 cone drill. I think all are legitimate franchise LTs and are every bit as good as Joeckel, Fisher and Johnson from last year I know the combine isnt real football but I do feel a lot more comfortable with us taking a look at Lewan if Matthews and Robinson are off the board and we go heavy at DE in free agency
Bridgewater waited until the last minute to decide he wasn't throwing today.....now, just moments before day two starts, he decides he isn't running either. WTF? Go home then. Why'd you even show up?

Hopefully this turns some teams off and he falls in our laps at #7

As a former Buc player in this same exact style of defense : Simeon Rice....and examople of a star in today's game : Robert Quinn.Do I need to go any further ?
Derek Carr just ran a 4.68, not bad at all for a guy many thought was immobile.
