Jesus Wilder is slow as hell. He is on Clarrett level with that kinda 40.

I'll be surprised if we add a RB this offseason.

He isn't that slow, his 40 technique is gawd awful. Watch how he pops up almost right from the start.

I agree, Seen the same thing. Whoever he had helping him before the combine should be fired....

For people who want Hester, Archer would be a MUCH better option. As a returner and a guy who you could get the ball like six times a game, he would kill it. He's a game breaker. Fastest guy I've seen in person and he can run routes downfield. VERY versatile.

I like Ladarius Perkins late in the draft. Maybe with our 7th round compensatory pick. He reminds me of Sproles. Good receiver. Could play slot if needed. 5'7" 195lbs http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uf7RUVLVbdU

Archer has more straight line speed but I wouldn't say it isn't even close. Similar players in size, speed, and strength. Archer seems more of a straight line speed type of guy and wants to hit that high gear as quick as he can when Devine used starting and stopping more.

Have Archer's 40's gone final yet?Noel did not run at the combine.  Dropped a 4.43 at his pro day (obviously faster then Indy).  I'll stand behind not close in top end speed.  I would agree, both were probably very similar in the 10/20's.  Both have/had excellent burst from stopped.  I honestly don't remember if Noel could catch the ball with his hands down the field?  I did not watch much WVU while he was there and didn't see any of that on his highlight tapes coming out of there.  Noel caught 34/22/35 passes his last 3 seasons at WVU but never had more then 258 yards receiving (highest ypc of those seasons 8.0)Dri went 39/25 receptions his last 2 seasons at Kent St.  561 and 327 yards (both seasons over 13 yards per catch)

So much for Dri in the 4th.  I hope he drops every damn pass they throw him this afternoon.

I'm not denying Archer isn't faster but I don't think it's a huge gap that's all and I don't really like comparing stats from smaller school to a bigger school.  I'm just saying from the tape I've watched and I've seen both of them play in person they have a lot of similarities. Archer is more of a straight line runner and Devine is more of a stop and start though. But they do use their strength in the same ways, both good options when coming out of the back field, and both good return men. Ultimately Devine had way too many character concerns and Archer seems to have more of a head on his shoulders.

I don't know what you consider a huge gap Laz.  We just read that Dri posted one of the best electronic 40's in combine history.  Noel wouldn't run, but was .19 slow at his pro day then Dri just was at Indy.  Let's also not pretend the Big East was all that much better when Noel was there then the Mid-American.  But my reception stats were meant more to indicate the depth down field that the two players were receiving their passes.  Not perfect, but a guy averaging 13-15 ypc is probably catching more down the field passes then a guy averaging 6-8 ypc.

From what I remember Devine had an injury that's why he didn't run at the combine and I've heard him running faster than that at other pro days.  I mean look at Archer his official 40 time was faster than his non electronic 40 time. I look at Archer as being a high 4.2 guy and Devine being a mid 4.3 which it's all irrelevant because Devine isn't even in the league. And maybe a guy averaging more yards per catch is running away from slower players in a weaker conference? Archer is gonna contribute but more than likely it's gonna be in a return and slot role.

He just ran an official electronic timed 4.26.  How can you say you look at him as a high 4.2 guy?  Cause "Twitchy" Casserly can't time a 40 to save his old ass life?  They are not close in top speed.  Please admit that so we can still be friends.  Again, comparing anyone against a Big East (in the last 10 or so years) player and saying the other guy played in a weaker conference is a tough argument to make with me.  That would be the very definition of splitting hairs imo.  Finally, the last line we can leave on an item of semi-agreement.  Dri Archer is not going to be a 1st/2nd down back.  He is not going to be a between the tackle running back.  I don't think he's Chris Johnson II (not that Chris Johnson is even Chris Johnson anymore).  I think he will contribute out of the backfield, but in the receiving game primarily.
