DJ and JD, put down the handbags. He basically said that his goal is to focus on talent evaluation (that's what he says he was hired for and that's what interested the Bucs) and he's largely going to rely on Mike Greenberg to hammer out the deals. He and Lovie will get together on evaluations, values they place on individual players, and let MG go to work. It's as much about time-management and priorities as anything else (this info came from his interview with Booger).

Because you are obtuse , as I said.Greenberg is the negotiator and contract maker , as he's always been , but a GM still has to be involved in the process because he has to know if a deal will fit into his overall plan for building the team or if it can't.Business as usual at One Buc Place and everywhere else in the league.

Banks as Nickel? I think he'd get eaten alive inside.

I saw some football guys tweeting about Tillman to Bucs and the consensus was that Tillman would move inside, and Banks would absolutely not work in the slot.

Tillman isn't exactly an ideal slot either. He'd obviously be better than Banks inside, but I'm not so sure we wouldn't be better off with a younger guy that is better suited to play nickel. A guy like Sam Shields, Nolan Carroll, Walter Thurmond, or Alterraun Verner might make more sense. Even if we go with an older guy, Brent Grimes would probably be a better fit as nickel.

Alterraun Verner is going to want a huge deal. He was one of the best Corners in football this year.

Re: Tillman (from 2012):He might not be a shutdown corner in the same mold as the Jets' Darrelle Revis, but Tillman can defend shorter, speedy receivers and contend with bigger, stronger tight ends."Receivers come in all different sizes, so you have to have at least one big corner,'' Bears coach Lovie Smith said. "Charles does so much for us. If he wanted to, he could play safety. He could play nickel. And, of course, he could play on the outside. There's just a lot of versatility to him.''Tillman's versatility gives the Bears defensive flexibility Monday. It wouldn't be a surprise if defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli inserts cornerback Kelvin Hayden when Johnson forces Tillman to follow him into the slot.Tillman is sure to have his hands full chasing Johnson, who lined up on the right side 35 times and the left 35 times last week during a 26-23 overtime victory in Philadelphia. Johnson, who caught six passes for 135 yards, went in motion on four plays. Nnamdi Asomugha shadowed him for most of the game.Tillman said he feels no pressure."They trusted me to follow guys around in 2005, '06,'' he said. "I remember in '06, we played the Giants and I had to chase Plaxico (Burress). I don't think this is anything new.''Tillman has a similar outlook toward playing another position in the secondary. The question seems to be asked every year about the possibility of playing free safety in the future. Some suggest such a move would help prolong his career, although the durable veteran has missed only one game in the last three seasons. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-10-21/sports/ct-spt-1022-bears-tillman-chicago--20121022_1_lions-johnson-charles-tillman-lions-receiver-calvin-johnson

don't look for the top FA at CB... Verner(Tag), Grimes, Talib, Vontae Davis, DRC and Shields will get paid!with Revis making $16M there is no way the Bucs spend more than $20M on the CB position... $35M for our DB's, no way!Captain Munnerlyn or Josh Wilson are the top nickel back on the market... both are starting material and great fit for the nickel spot... both may look for a $3-5M per year deal5 former Bears: Corey Graham, Trumaine McBride, Zackary Bowman, Kelvin Hayden and Charles Tillman...keep an eye on two Cards CB's(Litch): Javier Arenas for KR/dime back and Antoine Cason to compete with Banks. alter: Chris Cook(Frazier), Terrell Thomas, Drayton Florence and Walter Thurmond III(suspension)some cap casualties who feet Tampa 2: Ike Taylor, Leon Hall, Cortland Finnegan, Derek Cox, Carlos Rogers and Jabari Greer
