Banks, most definitely, is not a viable option inside, his strengths and playstyle scream outside corner. There are some solid options at FA that could fill the Nick spot. I like Shields being an FA, he has quick hips, quick recovery and is built suitably for an inside role and also can cover on the outside decent enough. One thing I haven't seen mentioned that we need to remember when debating the nick position is that IF Lovie and co. decide to use revis in his Island form than there will be plays where he will be lined up inside...covering the #1 WR when he lines up in the slot which happens in this league (albeit not that often) so we may be better off finding a nickel that isn't ONLY strong on the inside. I don't think the draft is the place to accomplish this. Personally, I think Shields and Nolan Carroll really deserve consideration for this spot on our D.In regards to a pass rusher, I think Jared Allen sounds like a great option and would be a blast to have that energy on the field for our D; however, he may desire a little more than we can afford. Everyone mentioning Tuck are on to something, I feel he may be the best value FA DE this year and is definitely worth a look.I also like the general consesus we have here of building our OFFENSE in the draft this year, with the exception of maybe scooping FAs for our Interior OL and our "speed in space" needs. I really hope we go TE this year in the draft, I can't remember the last time I saw a TE class that was so DEEP. I fear that Sefarian-Jenkins may boost his value into 1st round prospect at the combine because he is an athletic SOB, but even if that does happen I still think there will be plenty of TE value to scoop in the draft and hope we can get Wright some solid help out there.
Well it seems like most of the free agent bargains will be on defense (and it is usually true). DE, CB, LB all line up nicely for the Bucs. On offense though the Bucs will have to lean on the draft to find a dynamic two way TE, slot WR, Interior OL, OT and possibly QB.
Erin Henderson - LB - Free AgentVikings released LB Erin Henderson.Henderson didn't have a bad 2013 season on the field, seeing action at both middle and strong-side linebacker, but has been arrested for DUI twice since November, and cutting him saves Minnesota $2.1 million in salary cap space. Look for Henderson to draw interest in free agency, perhaps from Tampa Bay. He's a scheme fit for Lovie Smith's defense and has lots of history with new Bucs defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. Henderson turns 28 in July.
Cheers
Erin Henderson is a solid football player....but if he got two DUIs, won't he be suspended?
Maybe him and Vjax can split cabs
Some realistic FAs that should be relatively affordable to replace some of the crappy depth we have currently. Might even be a few guys on here that earn starting roles. NFL Trade Rumors ?@nfltrade_rumors 6mBuccaneers Release Gabe Carimi, Derek Landri, Jordan Rodgers & Michael Hill
Lots of sense if that's true.
Hardy and the Kitties would seem to bear watching. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/02/08/4673068/release-the-kraken-carolina-panthers.html#.UvmZK17WeUc

Not surprising about these cuts...Carimi and Landri were making too much for little production. I expect more high priced guys to be cut after the draft but the axe has started to fall. Rodgers being cut is surprising though but the Bucs did pick up Kefka.
Alex Mack - C - BrownsNFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes there's a "much better chance" the Browns re-sign free agent C Alex Mack following the firing of GM Mike Lombardi.Per Rapoport, Mack will still reach the open market, but was as good as gone under Lombardi. RapSheet said earlier Tuesday that he'd be "surprised" if fellow Browns free agent T.J. Ward didn't receive the franchise tag, suggesting Mack isn't a candidate to be tagged. Mack graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 center in 2013, and wouldn't lack for suitors in free agency.Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter
Please no, to Mack. I'm done with paying big $ because we are too stupid to find interior linemen in the draft.

so you want to pass on a proven commodity and roll the dice in the draft? im fine with paying guys in FA as long as the salary is appropriate and the player is actually good. Mack would be a welcome addition to the team
In the case of a center or a guard, yes. I'm not opposed to a free agent interior lineman, but I'm not cool with paying top dollar for one. You can't build a sustainable team by paying big dollars to positions where replacements are relatively easy to find. The Bucs used to understand this. Just because Mark "I don't draft OL" Dominik couldn't find suitable interior guys doesn't make it impossible. G in particular is the easiest position to draft.

At over $8 million dollars per season for 6 seasons? You think so?

like i said, if the price is right. 8mil is a bit high. maybe 5-6mil assuming we trim some more OL fat off this team
