Not buying it. Unless he is traded....I'm just not buying any of it. Especially from Marvez and PFT.

PFT I understand your being apprehensive....but Marvez is pretty credible IMO.

releasing Revis would be the ultimate fail by this organization. it means you have no idea what you are doing. we have the money to pay him. if you release him you effectively threw a 1st round pick away and a 4th for nothing. youd better get at the minimum a 1st rounder for him. probably more now that hes actually healthy

When you pay a guy $16M per year, which is $6M more than anyone else at his position......this kinda stuff happens.

The move still makes no sense. The Bucs have $24 million in cap space so it not like Revis's salary is preventing them from signing anyone. If this team cuts Revis after only one year it would be a huge fail by this team.

It does if you believe you can get ammo to move up in the draft to get a QB or DE and replace Revis with someone who is in the payband in FA....Makes a ton of sense.

Is twitter the only place you guys are getting the rumor mill info? Just curious if anyone has any good sites on the free agency frenzy that is about to happen.

If you have a smartphone. You can download the Bleacher Report app. They have a thing called Team Stream and you can receive notifications on your phone.

You don't know what they want to do. Good chance $24M isn't enough to make the changes they deem necessary. I think people underestimate just how much Lovie/Licht wanna change this roster. They are done evaluating and they obviously don't feel like they can win with this roster. If they need $40M+ and Revis won't restructure....then he has gotta go. Cutting him outright would be very unfortunate, but the fact that nobody else wants him at $16M/yr should make it crystal clear that he is not worth his current cap hit. I know Lovie wants Revis to stay. I'd put money on it....but if they tried to restructure and Revis won't be reasonable, then Lovie has decided he won't start off his reign in Tampa by being held hostage by the last guys' mistakes. His salary is too damn much and the fact that nobody will trade for him at that price should prove it.

I'm a big fan of Revis and don't want to get rid of him, but realistically it's what is best for the team. Hopefully we get some draft picks for him though, because I agree that cutting him is stupid. I'd rather keep him another year and try again next year, if we need to get rid of him.

Even if we cut him and got nothing, which would really suck, what if we signed Melton and Verner with that $16M? It would suck that we lost that 1st, but can anyone really say we'd be worse off? To me, Melton and Verner together are better than just Revis. Plus we get back the 69th pick of the draft and forfeit the 110th instead. That is kinda big in this draft. 69th pick is almost certainly a starter. 110th? Eh...maybe.

You can scratch Verner off your list, he already said he would take less money to go to a contender. It would take a Revis like deal to get him to Tampa anyways. With so many teams with money to burn not sure if we see as many of the cheap deals like we did last year.

To my knowledge Verner is off the market. Heard yesterday that he cancelled remaining visits and is no longer scheduling them. It's expected to be announced early into free agency. Basically my thought process on the Revis situation is... If we cut him, instead of trading. Then we better spend every last available dollar we have to better the team.
