Who said Gholston should be our starter? I think Claybirn will play on the left side if he can do that physically. I'd rather have him on the field than off the field. May not get all the sacks but he is a good player.
Well, from one POV, you could view the 3rd DE as a "starter", since #3 DEs in a lot of 4-3 systems see just as many snaps as the #2 DE....

That is my pov. 3rd DE and 3rd CB are just as much starters as the 3rd LB.

And on most teams you can't view the 3rd DE as a "starter". Your 3rd DE could be a specialist like strictly a run stopper or edge rusher. That doesn't make them technically a starter tho.Who's the 3rd DE for St Louis? Carolina? What other DEs are taking as many sacks as Chris Long and Charles Johnson?

Nope, not one most teams, just some...that's why I specified "a lot of 4-3 systems". The point is, in a 4-3 you have a group of players who are going to play a large majority of the snaps...The two safeties, the 2 starting CBs, 2 LBs, 2 and typically 2-3 defensive linemen. Then you have players like the 3rd LB, 3rd CB, 2nd and 3rd DE, and 2nd and 3rd DT. These players rotate based upon defensive packages and rotate to keep fresh bodies in the game. So while these heavily rotated positions may not be on the field for the very first play of the game...which signifies the technical term of a starter....they do a lot of times see the same amount of snaps/time on the field as a player(who might be a nickel back) who has been defined as a starter for that game.So the word "starter" isn't all that black and white.3rd DE for STL was actually more of a 3rd/4th option with Sims and Hayes.Carolina ran things a little differently. They primarily rotated and used their DTs across the LOS. Hardy and Johnson stayed on the field 85% and 80%. The next 4 players when ranking snap count/% of snaps played were all defensive tackles. Their 3rd and 4th DEs ended up playing less than 30% of the snaps since they found their DTs to be more versatile and could use 3 on the LOS at one time.
Adam SchefterAtlanta Falcons are open to trading up in draft, per league sources. Falcons are first team known to be willing to go up.
Clowney ?
That would be awesome if they mortgage everything to move up.

They have so many personnel men and seem to be in perpetual "Superbowl or bust" mode. It makes me wonder if Arthur Blank-Check is driving these desperation plays...
Clowney ?
95% Clowney, 5% Robinson. I would love to see them mortgage their picks to get them. The Rams or Jags look like the likely trade targets.
