2016 NFL Draft order and needs for every teamBy Lance Zierlein      NFL.com Published: Oct. 13, 2015 Draft%20Needs_Zpsalwfsgl7.JpgThis is the first-round order for the 2016 NFL Draft, with the top positional needs for every team. The draft order is determined by record, using strength of schedule, and then conference and division records as tiebreakers (record and strength of schedule are official tiebreakers to determine draft order). The final 12 first-round spots (or, 11, if the New England Patriots make the postseason) will be determined by playoff results. For now, those teams will be ordered based on playoff seed if the season ended today.1. Detroit Lions 2015 record: 0-5 (.625) Top need: Cornerback Other needs: Left tackle, inside linebacker Senior prospects at positional needs: CB: Maurice Canady (Virginia), Danzel McDaniel (Kansas State), Will Redmond (Mississippi State); OT: Vadal Alexander (LSU), Taylor Decker (Ohio State), Spencer Drango (Baylor); ILB: Reggie Ragland (Alabama), Cassanova McKinzy (Auburn), Kentrell Brothers (Missouri), James Burgess (Louisville). Analysis: Rashean Mathis is very long in the tooth and the depth at the cornerback position is not close to where it needs to be in a division that features Aaron Rodgers. Riley Reiff is built to be a right tackle or a guard, and the sooner the Lions can lock in on a young, bell-cow left tackle and move Reiff to a more natural spot, the better off they will be. Finding a tone-setter in the middle of the defense should also be a priority.2. New Orleans Saints 2015 record: 1-4 (.583) Top need: Cornerback Other needs: Guard, wide receiver Senior prospects at positional needs: CB: Maurice Canady (Virginia), Danzel McDaniel (Kansas State), Will Redmond (Mississippi State)); Guard: Landon Turner (North Carolina), Joshua Garnett (Stanford); WR: D.J. Foster (Arizona State), Sterling Shepard (Oklahoma), Josh Doctson (TCU). Analysis: The Saints are having trouble stopping teams through the air, and even though third-round cornerback P.J. Williams is on the injured reserve, they should continue to look for talent at that position. As the Saints' transition from their high-flying offensive days under Drew Brees to a more run-oriented approach, they might look for a jackhammer at the guard spot who can blow holes open for Mark Ingram. The Saints will need to find a wide receiver with length to help them challenge defenses on the perimeter.3. Houston Texans 2015 record: 1-4 (.625) Top need: Quarterback Other needs: Running back, inside linebacker Senior prospects at positional needs: QB: Connor Cook (Michigan State), Jacoby Brissett (North Carolina State), Trevone Boykin (TCU), Cody Kessler (USC); RB: Devontae Booker (Utah), Josh Ferguson (Illinois), Aaron Green (TCU); ILB: Reggie Ragland (Alabama), Cassanova McKinzy (Auburn), Kentrell Brothers (Missouri), James Burgess (Louisville). Analysis: Until the Texans find an answer at quarterback -- or, at least begin grooming one who has a legitimate shot -- they will find themselves on the outside looking in. Arian Foster and Brian Cushing have been key core members of the Texans, but injuries and salary concerns could usher them out of Houston and their backups simply aren't good enough.4. Jacksonville Jaguars 2015 record: 1-4 (.636) Top need: Center Other needs: Cornerback, safety Senior prospects at positional needs: Center: Nick Martin (Notre Dame), Mike Matthews (Texas A&M); CB: Maurice Canady (Virginia), Danzel McDaniel (Kansas State), Will Redmond (Mississippi State); Safety: Deon Bush (Miami), Jeremy Cash (Duke), Kevin Byard (Middle Tennessee State). Analysis: Provided Dante Fowler comes back at 100 percent, he'll help the Jaguars' pass rush, but they must add more talent and competition for those starting secondary spots. Jacksonville wants to be a better running team, and finding the right fit at center can go a long way in that quest. 5. Baltimore Ravens 2015 record: 1-4 (.680) Top need: Safety Other needs: Rush linebacker, wide receiver Senior prospects at positional needs: Safety: Deon Bush (Miami), Jeremy Cash (Duke), Kevin Byard (Middle Tennessee State); Rush LB: Jordan Jenkins (Georgia), Dadi Nicolas (Virginia Tech), Ryan Brown (Mississippi State); WR: D.J. Foster (Arizona State), Sterling Shepard (Oklahoma), Josh Doctson (TCU). Analysis: With Antonio Brown and A.J. Green in the division, the Ravens are in desperate need of a legitimate, back-end safety who can make plays and help defend against the deep ball. Terrell Suggs' injury is par for the course for aging players and adding a young pass rusher would help. We are waiting to see what Breshad Perriman can do, but more talent for Joe Flacco couldn't hurt.6. San Francisco 49ers 2015 record: 1-4 (.708) Top need: Quarterback Other needs: Right tackle, wide receiver, defensive line Senior prospects at positional needs: QB: Connor Cook (Michigan State), Jacoby Brissett (North Carolina State), Trevone Boykin (TCU), Cody Kessler (USC); OT: Vadal Alexander (LSU), Taylor Decker (Ohio State), Spencer Drango (Baylor); WR: D.J. Foster (Arizona State), Sterling Shepard (Oklahoma), Josh Doctson (TCU); DL: DeForest Buckner (Oregon), Shilique Calhoun (Michigan State), Shawn Oakman (Baylor). Analysis: It's just not going to happen with Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers likely understand that internally, but finding the right guy at quarterback is obviously nearly every NFL team's priority. Sudden retirements have left the 49ers a mess, and maybe no more so than at right tackle, where Eric Pears has struggled. Consistency at wide receiver would be helped with an infusion of young talent, and the formerly formidable defensive front for the 49ers could use an upgrade along the defensive line.7. Kansas City Chiefs 2015 record: 1-4 (.720) Top need: Offensive tackle Other needs: Defensive end, cornerback Senior prospects at positional needs: OT: Vadal Alexander (LSU), Taylor Decker (Ohio State), Spencer Drango (Baylor); DE: DeForest Buckner (Oregon), Shilique Calhoun (Michigan State), Shawn Oakman (Baylor); CB: Maurice Canady (Virginia), Danzel McDaniel (Kansas State), Will Redmond (Mississippi State). Analysis: A very difficult early season schedule, including a heartbreaking loss to the Broncos, has the Chiefs in this predicament, but they might right the ship soon. However, Eric Fisher is unlikely to right his own ship and it is time for the Chiefs to move on from their former No. 1 overall draft pick tackle. I'm certain that GM John Dorsey will look to build along the defensive front, which means finding an impact defensive lineman. The Chiefs love 2015 first-round cornerback Marcus Peters, but landing a bookend or a quality third cornerback could be a priority.8. Miami Dolphins 2015 record: 1-3 (.474) Top need: Offensive tackle Other needs: Guard, cornerback Senior prospects at positional needs: OT: Vadal Alexander (LSU), Taylor Decker (Ohio State), Spencer Drango (Baylor); Guard: Landon Turner (North Carolina), Joshua Garnett (Stanford); CB: Maurice Canady (Virginia), Danzel McDaniel (Kansas State), Will Redmond (Mississippi State). Analysis: The Dolphins have talent on their roster, but something isn't clicking with them. Offensively, the Dolphins are going to have to find better players at both tackle and guard. The offensive tackle position needs more competition and the guard spot needs more talent. Adding talent to the cornerback position should be one of Miami's top priorities, as Brent Grimes turns 33 this summer.9. Tennessee Titans 2015 record: 1-3 (.500) Top need: Running back Other needs: Safety, inside linebacker Senior prospects at positional needs: RB: Devontae Booker (Utah), Josh Ferguson (Illinois), Aaron Green (TCU); Safety: Deon Bush (Miami), Jeremy Cash (Duke), Kevin Byard (Middle Tennessee State); ILB: Reggie Ragland (Alabama), Cassanova McKinzy (Auburn), Kentrell Brothers (Missouri), James Burgess (Louisville). Analysis: The Titans look like they were able to hit with their selection of Marcus Mariota, but the best way to help him build his confidence and grow as a quarterback is to make sure he is surrounded with a balanced attack and that means finding a running back who can become a difference maker. Veteran safety Michael Griffin is a prime candidate to become a cap casualty, so that position will need to be addressed. Inside linebacker play could use an upgrade in talent.10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2015 record: 2-3 (.348) Top need: Offensive tackle Other needs: Defensive end, safety, guard Senior prospects at positional needs: OT: Vadal Alexander (LSU), Taylor Decker (Ohio State), Spencer Drango (Baylor); DE: DeForest Buckner (Oregon), Shilique Calhoun (Michigan State), Shawn Oakman (Baylor); Safety: Deon Bush (Miami), Jeremy Cash (Duke), Kevin Byard (Middle Tennessee State); Guard: Landon Turner (North Carolina), Joshua Garnett (Stanford). Analysis: There are needs galore for this team, but it starts at offensive tackle in my mind. I had my doubts about rookie Donovan Smith manning the left side of the line and still do. Ultimately, his best spot might be right tackle or even at guard. I know for sure that right tackle Gosder Cherilus must be replaced with a more talented option. Finding a replacement for veteran Logan Mankins at guard could be in the offing, as well. Lovie Smith's defense is based on upfield pressure, but he has only one defensive end in place and needs to find a true edge man for the right side. For every team....link
