It's a pipe dream to think Mike Smith will be on the sidelines in Bucs gear next year. So what options do the Buccaneers have in 2017?
Continuity and familiarity were a driving force in Dirk Koetter landing the HC gig. If the team wants to stick with that line of thinking then Hayes or Dufner are the most logical choices. Surly Hayes was given a little wink wink nudge nudge in order for him to make a lateral move out of Cincy.
If the Bucs go outside the family there are a few interesting options. First is Mike Nolan. Certainly there is some familiarity there as he and Koetter have already shared a sideline.

Wade Pillips is an interesting name to float out there. He is hinting at leaving Denver, and he has one hell of a resume.
Gus Bradley is looking for work. He built a monster in Seattle and with a few more horses in the defensive stable he could do the same here.
Mike Pettine, Gregg Williams, ...even Rex Ryan is now available but I don't think any of them are a good fit.
