Every year, since hiring Licht, we seem to get an unexpected prospect in the draft.
2014 - RB Charles Sims (3rd round)
*came as a shock to most, as the board collectively felt good about Doug Martin returning to join Mike James.
2015 - G Ali Marpet (2nd round/trade)
*selecting an offensive lineman wasn't a surprise, but I'd say most people, not as well connected, were surprised to see us trade up into the second round for a Hobart prospect.
2016 - K Roberto Aguayo (2nd round/trade)
*Don't wanna talk about it.
2017 - LB Kendall Beckwith (4th round)
*Like the drafting of Chuck Sims in 2014, Beckwith was a surprise considering we already had Lavonte and Kwon, and 4th round picks are a little too rich for a special teamer/backup, especially coming off of a knee surgery.
2018 - SS Ronnie Harrison (2nd round)
*While most would be expecting RB, I think they swerve us in round 2 with this selection. Maybe they think Nyheim Hines and Peyton Barber can get it done.
What unforeseen move can you see us taking? Mike McGlinchey after a trade down? Or maybe a move back into the first for DT Taven Bryan?
Let me know.
