Licht hit it out of the park the first 2 rounds this year, but what he chose to do the rest of the draft continues to ignore value and is an example of the reason we continue to struggle.
1. Tristan Wirfs
2. Antoine Winfield Jr.
3. Matt Peart OT Connecticut
5. Michael Onwenu OG Michigan
I think had we made these 2 different picks, we'd have a completely different stating O-Line right now and a completely different outlook at this point. I said before the draft, and I say again, we can't play this style of offense with Donovan Smith at OT. Wirfs at LT and Peart at RT would be so much of a physical talent upgrade. Onwenu was a steal for the Pats in the 6th and has been a stud since day 1. He's the road greater we need to play the power style of running game our RB's are suited for.
We'd still have the same issues on D, and I like Tyler Johnson, but with this draft our O-Line wouldn't suck again and not taking advantage of the opportunity we had to finally solve that with such a talented O-Line draft is another big indictment on Licht.
