Outside of pass protection, what makes these other rbs better?
He has far superior vision and an agility to match.
High IQ player.
Kieft can be the best blocker in the world, but he's such a non-threat as a pass catcher that you are just as well off making a tackle eligible and throw to him. Make Kieft an offensive lineman because that's all he's good for. That was a failed experiment. If Culp can block then he can rotate in at TE because neither Otton or Durham are blocking specialists.I love the Barton pick now after they made it. In retrospect it was a no-brainer or so it seems the way Licht talked about it. If we can a dominant center for the next decade that would be well worth the pick, particularly when sometimes they turn out to be Vernon Hargreaves or OJ Howard.
After that I have no problem with any of the picks. I like the 7th round pick for some strange reason.
No trades. Not exciting. I don't think any of the "experts" are going to boost the Bucs stock after this draft. Nobody is going to be saying we knocked it out of the park. But I think it will turn out to be a solid but unspectacular draft.
I have read conflicting things about Culp's run blocking. But after watching more closely and reading PFF grades he is actually a good run blocker. His hands are iffy but he has legit speed for a man of his size. Kieft is in danger of losing a roster spot. Or, as someone suggested they may move Culp to WR but I think he needs to develop his hands more to make the move to WR successfully. Right now I would say the top three TEs are Otton, Durham and Culp.
Kieft was not a good blocker last year and while new coach Justin Peele may help him I do not see a path forward for him. Durham and Culp just need to show they are competent average blockers and Kieft is out of a roster spot.
It's was an overall solid haul. Like I've said before, we are a generally solid well rounded team. Our interior online was clearly the weakest link. Now there's to hoping we get some edge pressure with Yaya and the Braswell as well as some of our rotational guys. I was really hoping for an outside CB for when Dean goes down with an injury…but otherwise, not bad.
Speed. Buckey’s quicker than fast. If the thought is to utilize Buckey to bounce outside, he’s going to need enough speed ti turn the corner in the NFL. He may be able to accomplish that, as his short area speed is good, but getting to the second level is going to be limited. Guess that will depend on the creativity of the offense as to whether that will be an issue.Outside of pass protection, what makes these other rbs better?

I trust Liam Coen knew what he was doing, Ray Davis could have been gotten, and he decided to not pick him.
It is a small concern, hopefully it is just that.
Yeah def straight line speed he's limited but that's why he's a 4th rounder.
He's so damn good in space. Excellent vision and ellusive.
Downside is size, straight line speed, and unknown in pass protection
Bucky is a straight Dawg. Sure, he lacks size and top end speed. Dude would be a 1st round back if he had those, even in todays NFL. He is shifty as hell and tough to bring down. The first guy never tackles him. Never. I love watching this guy. He’s gonna be fun.
I will say that Irving is an upgrade over Thompkins as a return specialist. And Thompkins really needs to bring it to stick this year because Palmer and Irving are better return specialists due to the new kickoff rules.
I trust Liam Coen knew what he was doing, Ray Davis could have been gotten, and he decided to not pick him.
Fair point on Davis. But what has Coen done to earn this trust?

Maybe Coen saw some things behind the scenes last year at Kentucky that gave him pause as far as continuing to work with Davis ? I personally was hoping that Davis would be the pick, but I support the Bucky pick the more I read about him and watch his game film.
"I think we got a lot better," said Assistant General Manager John Spytek. "We got a lot of our kind of guys at the positions we needed.
I hope my bias isn't clouding my judgment but I think y'all are gonna be shocked at how good Bucky is in space.
Vision and shifty... amazing combo
I trust the guys who hired the offensive coordinator. The offense isn’t installed, and we haven’t made first contact yet.I trust Liam Coen knew what he was doing, Ray Davis could have been gotten, and he decided to not pick him.

As I said, it’s the benefit of the doubt. None of us know the future, but we’re all kinda in the honeymoon stage. We boat didn’t buy the boat so it’s best - at this point - to enjoy the ride.
There are a lot of veteran RBs out there and today is the day you can sign a vet without impacting comp calculations. This is going to be a wait and see situation because:
Can Tucker improve? How does irving fair against faster NFL defenders like for example players like McCollum, Dean? Is Coen going to use a lot of two back sets? And if so will White be the one to chip and Irving motion out wide?
Lots of questions marks.
Overall good draft. And PR did an amazing job covering it.
My concerns are with corner and MLB.
We are not better than we were last year in the corner room from starters down to reserves. And that’s without injuries.
I’m also worried about MLB. Yes, I’ve been all for getting rid of Devin for 2 and 1/2 years, but our depth is a huge question mark. Dennis couldn’t stay healthy last year and all we have to rave aboard two pick 6 plays in OTAs and training camp. That’s not enough to tell me anything.
MLB is a huge concern. Hoping we get some veteran camp fodder.
