Put on your sad faces people but the Bills have snagged Chubb.

3 year $43.55 MM contract.

According to Rick Stroud the Bucs are bringing back S. Tucker on a 1 year RFA deal.

their lack luster signings so far make me think they are easing into a rebuild

thats why were are at an interesting fork in the road.

Last season the Bucs actually sold "SB contender" to fans, but their actions were not matched to that eg mostly modest FA period and still aging vets etc.

This off season they've shed Evans so the natural  "contender" response would be to strike some big deal . . and yet "short term" offer to Hendrickson . .the position they need most?

I smell a rat at OBP. . that's been running around since 2022

Let's be real, their actions have not matched a SB Contender since they got TB12 and all that came alongside him. They haven't drafted particularly well. They haven't signed a significant FA. They haven't overturned deadweight coaches. None of those things considered breed a SB contender. I was hoping this offseason would be different all the way around considering how the season ended. It's not turning out to be and I think at the end of the 2026 season, we are facing a complete sweeping change in coaching staff and personnel.

Yes, I agree.

Those actions by the FO - draft only, budget FA, deadweight coaches - are all a team elevating other issues over competitiveness. Dead cap etc.

That's why I have said the team probably has more "loyalty" to Bowles than any of us might have. And it might even explain why they kept him on for this season, even with that collapse. He is their "caretaker" coach. The HC who would not only accept those constraints, but also who got them to the playoffs with Mayfield and Canales when they were planning on whatever might happen with Trask (and Leftwich?). The caretaker coach who "made due" with what he has while the team goes through the least expensive and slowest type of rebuild, mostly draft and value FAs, while also clearing out vets WITHOUT having to do what they did with Sapp and Lynch. Evans, LVD, Godwin, Vea . . .

I sort of see this offseason (so far) as the proof of elevating other issues over competitiveness. Maybe it will all turn around BUT if the Bucs lose Evans as they did and dont match it with some exciting FA move then it will almost be an inescapable thought that this has all been a slow rebuild ('22-'25) all along and it continues to 26 and, as you say, sweeping changes after that (hopefully)

Just wanted one spot for all the free agent signings.

Could've used a sticky note.

He can sit as rb3 where he belongs. Right JC?

RB room is set.

Feels bad the Bucs had to spend $10 mil on backups though when they don't have an edge rusher opposite of Diaby. :(

Agree, Olaf. It sort of reminds me of the rebuild years post-Gru. Team was in cap hell and had to find a way out of it. While they aren't in cap hell compared to that, they are cap strapped for sure.

That being considered, no coach in their right mind would jump to do that except for the guy who was here or a brand new to the NFL head coach. If that is accurate, then I understand why you retain Bowles despite of my dislike for him. It makes sense. And I am generally ok with trying to build through the draft too but that fails more time than it actually works and you have to find the right sprinkle of FAs to bring it all together. To be winner, you have to find the right mix of things - something Tampa has always struggled with.

Aside from Evans leaving I'm more upset about not signing Chubb.. Never wanted Hendrickson or Crosby, but for the price tag I think Chubb would have been a solid upgrade...The F.O. will likely shift to Bosa now, and then watch as he walks past and signs with someone else.  I think word might be spreading amongst Free Agents why Evans left and now we have to deal with that as well.  As it pertains to personnel next year, I'm wondering if there is some quiet hand wringing behind the scenes about Mayfield and if he doesn't get back to somewhere near where he was under Coen, they might let him walk next offseason..If so then the rebuild is completely on.  It blows my mind that you can have Bowles squarely on the hot seat, and give him no weapons to be able to improve his odds ( although his ego probably thinks he can still make chicken salad out of chicken shit, like he stated last year, despite what the outcome turned out to be )  What I do know is that no coach worth their salt would come into this situation seeing what is happening and be okay with it, and that could also limit our chances to land a good established coach next year.

I'm not happy about the lack of signings, but teams are overpaying for the free agents and I don't think they'll live up to it.  I'm speaking about the Hendrickson contract.  The Bucs were waiting for the price to come down on him.  It didn't.  Instead another team came up to meet the demands.  I think it could be fools gold for the Ravens.

I just never had a big hope that the Bucs would spend big in the free agent market, and they didn't.  I think we all knew deep down inside that the Bucs wouldn't land any of the high priced guys.  Now we are disappointed because we hoped to be surprised.  But there was no surprise.

No we are disappointed they can not land mid tier guys.  Bucs have cap space since they did not re-sign Evans to improve the defense.  So far it feels like they are all in on upgrading the depth on offense and re upping Otton.

Feels bad.

49ers are trading for Osa Odighizuma for a third round pick (96).

Good pick up which is basically a 4th rounder.
