I find it strange we struggle in the 2nd quarter so much.
vs the raiders & saints specifically come to mind.
Guess it is better then the 1st or 4th quarter?
I think its that the defense needs to strat rolling in the deep throw to keep defenses honest. To your point, this is ESPN
"Starting in the second quarter, the Raiders were able to disrupt quarterback Baker Mayfield’s passes to the flats and out routes. … Mayfield was 7-of-13 for 84 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on passes for 5 or fewer air yards, according to ESPN Research. His 54% completion percentage on those throws is tied for his lowest with the Bucs."

That's on coen. Deep slow developing plays while Baker was trying to do too much.
When he went short passes and running we went back to moving at will

Yep.
Stop going away from what’s working. Even if that means keeping it simple.
Just not use to stepping on the throat yet. I think the team takes too much of a sign of relief and lets up after up 14-0, as in we start throwing in plays to keep guys happy, such as Baker forcing to Otton. Understandable to keep guys happy, appreciated but I think we should take at least 3-4 score lead if we wanna tinker around like the lions do when they have their OT lineup at wr or P.Sewell reverse pass. Just get used to stepping on the throat when your foot is there, when you know the opponent has no will left then you can mess around.
Something about the art of war, make sure they have no morale no will, after beating them so they dont comeback for you, gotta be a savage to be the Lions...and we own that 1 on their record so we got it in us.
Sunday vs the Chargers is gonna be fun and a very physical game Harbaugh teams are mentally tough, good test, just dont come flat the week after like we did vs the Broncos when we win
Just watched the game last night, so this is still pretty fresh. Several drives in the 2nd/3rd quarter were wrecked by penalties, not just poor play-calling or design. One drive featured three flags in four snaps, iirc. I mean, you can have the greatest play called, and the best team on the planet, but if your players get flagged for a false start followed by a holding call, then an illegal formation two plays later, your odds of converting the first down are minimal at best. Do it again on the next drive and it's going to amount to another punt.
Does Coen bear the brunt of the responsibility for poor execution? Yep. But the players bear a lot of the onus as well in my book. As for why does that happen in the 2nd/3rd quarter? Well, I'm not a teammate obviously, but I'd guess it's because they're spending most of their practice time on the 15-play script and RZ packages during the week, and less time on middle-of-the-game plays. And many of those plays were probably installed weeks ago, then they walk through them once or twice the week of the game, but they aren't hammering them. But that's just a guess, based on how KC does it.
Our running game is good to ever abandon it tbh
obviously down 3+ scores depending when different story. But for the most part we live and die offensively by the running game. Which is good since we regularly get 150ish. Plenty. Keep the defense honest opens the play action up.
Bucky about to be our first 1000 back since 2014 I believe? Doug Martin?

Exactly
The Raiders suck but holding an NFL team to 13 points is Sapp-approved winning every Sunday result.
All the more so when your QB turns it over 3 times.
the game was closer than it should’ve been because the offense - not the defense - shat the bed for 2 quarters

This should have been a blow out loss for the Raiders. Bucs offense just needs to clean up the penalties because it is clear that Coen is not willing to commit to run the football when the Bucs go backwards due to penalties in the last two games.
Defensively the easiest adjustment is the Bucs boundary CBs play tighter zone coverage and play more m2m.

Agree with your entire post but this part stood out to me because of the video of Mike Evans screaming at Dean from the sideline on the 3rd down play where Dean not only failed to defend the pass but then let the guy get away for a 1st down
Dean is our “best” (highest paid) M2M guy lol
$ kills some players
Agree, but he’s not starting because he’s one of the best man-CB’s in the NFL, he’s starting because we don’t have anyone else. Zyon is our best all-round CB, but he can’t be everywhere.Defensively the easiest adjustment is the Bucs boundary CBs play tighter zone coverage and play more m2m
