As bad as we were last year, we were still winning games and ended up losing with A. an opponent drive starting with 34 seconds left. B. an opponent drive starting with 1:06 left. C. Up 10 in the 4th, D. Up 17 in the middle of the 3rd. In 2012 we gave up 262 yards and 25 points in the 4th qtr to the Giants. 54 yards in 4 plays to the Redskins and 136 yards and 2 TDs in the last 7 minutes to the Eagles. So when he says win games with defense he doesn't mean winning a game 6-3 like we did in 1999. He means not giving up 80 yard TDs up 8 and not running delayed safety blitzes to give a team a wide open pass into GW FG range.

I think we're reading to much into his words on this. Schiano said "big plays DOWN the field" Lovie said "big-play ability in the passing game." A big play can come off of a screen or quick slant.Tedford's offense wasn't known so much for going deep as it was for spread 'em out, quick reads and power running with the D spread out. He researched Tedford and obviously liked his approach.
I agree with this. A balanced attack with a power run game doesn't always mean run 2 draws then a long developing deep pattern on 3rd and 9 like it did with Schiano.

Missed it, anything worth sharing?

Not really. Florio did have one question asking if Lovie didn't take a DC job purposely last season so he could get a staff ready to hit the ground running this season, and Smith admitted that was a big reason - along with the self-evaluation stuff he talked about at his PC yesterday.
Lovie had better not put all his chips on the defenses table. If he does, it will be somewhat the same outcome as the schiano era. In this division, you have to score points to even keep up. Building a defense in this division is like making a wall and allowing mongolians to keep taking shots at it. Eventually it will always cave.

The NFL's #2 overall defense, #2 scoring defense, and NFC's #2 seed agrees with you.
Everyone that is worried about the same old team we got with Schiano needs to calm the f down. Everyone was on the bad coaching bandwagon, and now its a bad scheme to use power run? Get a hold of your opinion and stick to it.

You have a point, but for them it's kinda new.
Alright now PR. That what Im talking bout man. This was a pretty good and useful write up from what Lovie had to say and what it might mean. I just hope Lovie bring an offense with him cuz he didn't have it in Chicago - that for sure.

You do realize the great wall of China is still there, right?
